A major tribute to Edge took place after the SmackDown taping in Albany, NY last night. I was there live and this was simply amazing to watch. Here is my report:

As SmackDown! ended, the entire WWE locker-room came out to the top of the stage as Edge stood in the ring. First, The Big Show came down the ramp and hugged Edge. He was then followed by Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio and Christian who was already in the ring. They all hugged him and shook hands. All of them were crying at this point. It should be noted that these were his best friends within WWE.

Triple Hs music then hit and he embraced in a long hug with Edge, at least two minutes without letting go. The other guys continued to hug as well, all crying. The rest of the SmackDown! roster stood on-stage clapping with some tearing up.

As the WWE locker-room headed to the back, Edge began to follow. The WWE locker-room stopped and signaled for him to get back in the ring and soak it up.

Edge then gave a long speech, thanking the crowd, WWE universe, truck drivers, ring crew, creative team, cameraman, announcers, catering. etc etc. He mentioned people by name (Brian (Gerwirtz), Vince, etc)

Edge said he is happy he got to say goodbye in Albany because its the place where he won his first championship. In fact it was in a cab in Albany where Edge came up with the nickname Edge.

Edge thanked Kane, saying hed break kayfabe and would probably take some heat for that. He thanked Christian and Kane as his closest friends in the business and said he loved them to death.

Edge thanked Lita and said theyd had some great times together. He even joked to the fans that they needed to get their minds out of the gutter when it came to Lita even though we really did do it.

Edge said he was going home for a vacation and to spend time with his two dogs. The crowd laughed. He was very emotional during this promo.

There was a large Hall of Fame chant. He said he hoped to be in there one day and then said I think Im done youve probably heard enough. The crowd wanted more though.

Edge went and hugged his mother and then every single fan at ringside. Awesome way to end SmackDown! although none of this will air.

I hope that Andy Bartons $140K plus per year is evaluated based on his performance as well as Craig Jenkins and Steve Small’s $80-90K.

On a really sad note;

I have heard that Nigel Mcguiness has hepatitis C and this is the reason he is not wrestling for TNA.

I like Nigel and I see him as a great talent. I sincerely hope this isn’t true but if you think about it, he was hired by WWE and the way it went down could only be from a bad blood test, injury, or dope.

Nigel had the torn biceps and WWE knew that so that can’t be it. And he started wrestling with TNA immediately.

If he does have “Hep C” I feel really bad for the ROH guys that bled with him in matches and here’s some more “food for thought” and how this may play out for TNA;

This would mean that they knew about Nigels possible health issue which put everyone and anyone that he has worked with in “harms way” which is borderline “un forgivable” and just may ruin TNA with all of the other current work and working condition issues.

I’ve heard they are going to give Nigel a job in the office so, they must be scared to fire him and would mean to me that they had this knowledge upon hiring him.

Again, I like Nigel and I hope it isn’t true and even though I feel “creepy” writing about it something tells me I needed to.

When you look at how the company brands its characters, Punk is never among the top 5-8 names that are promoted or pushed. He didnt fit into the youth drive a few months back but hes not treated like a top veteran either. Hes just there, doing his job and while everyone knows he delivers, hes never really treated like someone who does. Hes never dropped the ball but we dont give it to him really, either. Hes treated like a guy, but not THE guy. For a driven guy like him whos made wrestling his entire world, its got to drive him crazy. Now, the excuse will be dont push Punk because he might be leaving, but the reality is the environment and situation is what is probably making him want to leave to begin with. Either it gets fixed or it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, just like it did when Batista walked out.
