• Canada: stuurt zeven CF-18 fighters 140 soldaten naar de regio, het Halifax-class fregat HMCS Charlottetown is ook betrokken bij de operatie.

• Qatar: volgens de Qatar News Agency zullen er tussen de vier en zes vliegtuigen (Mirages) meehelpen met het in stand houden van de no-fly zone boven Libië.
• Spanje: stuurt vier F-18 fighters, een tanker, one F100 frigate, one submarine and one P-3 Orion surveillance vliegtuig.
• Verenigde Arabische Emiraten: Heeft aangekondigd 24 vliegtuigen (Mirages en F-16’s) te zullen sturen.
• Verenigd Koninkrijk: Cameron heeft bevestigd dat Typhoon en Tornadofighters mee zullen participeren in de operatie, samen met tankers en surveillance vliegtuigen.
• Verenigde Staten: de VS hebben elf schepen uitgezonden, waaronder de carrier USS Enterprise. Ook worden doormiddel van Tomahawk-raketten SAM-sites uitgenomen. Volgens een woordvoerder van het Pentagon zijn er drie B-2 bommenwerpers en negentien F-16 en F-18 fighters actief boven Libië, als ook AC-130 PSYOP toestellen. Er zijn U-2 spionagevliegtuigen gestationeerd op Cyprus.
NAVO
• Heeft permanent AWACS vliegtuigen in de lucht, bemanningen worden geleverd door diverse lidstaten.
Landen die mogelijk de no-fly zone militair zullen steunen:
• Albanie: heeft bekend gemaakt klaar te zijn om te helpen.
• Jordanië
• Kroatië: heeft beloofd hulp te sturen, al dan niet militair.
• Saoedi-Arabie: Min. BuZa heeft bekend gemaakt mogelijk airstrikes uit te zullen voeren.
• Duitsland: schijnt indirect steun te gaan geven door posities in Afghanistan te gaan versterken, stuurt mogelijk AWACS-bemanningen. Ook wordt de campagne in Libië gecoördineerd vanaf een militaire basis nabij Ramstein. (zie hieronder)
• Turkije: heeft bekend gemaakt de 'nodige voorbereidingen' te gaan treffen.
• Zweden: heeft aangegeven steun te zullen verlenen wanneer de NATO daarom vraagt. Stuurt humanitaire hulp.

Mother of Libyan woman in rape-claim case says she is very proud of her daughter
TRIPOLI, LIBYA The mother of the woman who burst into a Tripoli hotel and claimed she had been raped by militiamen loyal to Libyan leader Moammar Gaddafi hailed her daughter as a hero Sunday and said she had been offered money and a house by the government if she changed her story.
Aisha Ahmed, contacted by telephone at her home in Tobruk, in the rebel held eastern part of the country, said she was proud of the courage displayed by her daughter, Iman al-Obaidi, whose dramatic outburst Saturday was broadcast around the world.
I am very happy, very proud, said Ahmed, describing her daughter as a 26-year-old law student in Tripoli.
A government official in Tripoli who said he had spoken with Obaidi called her a prostitute and said the rape took place when a party went wrong.
Obaidi was catapulted to world fame Saturday when she burst into the breakfast buffet at Tripolis Rixos Hotel, where the foreign press corps is staying as guests of Gaddafi's regime.
Disheveled, weeping, bleeding and bruised, she told reporters she had been raped by 15 Gaddafi militiamen after being detained at a checkpoint because she comes from the eastern city of Benghazi, the epicenter of the revolt against the Gaddafi regime. Before she could finish her story, security guards, government minders and wait staff violently overpowered her and hauled her away in an unmarked car.
Hasan Modeer, a rebel activist who was with Obaidi's mother in Tobruk, said a government official had called Ahmed at 3 a.m. Sunday, asking her to convince her daughter to change her story.
They said they will give her a new house and a lot of money and anything she wanted, Modeer said, adding that Ahmed had relayed the message to her daughter by phone but that Obaidi had refused.
She said, I will die rather than change my words, Modeer said.
But government spokesman Moussa Ibrahim said that he had talked to Obaidi by telephone and that it turned out she knew her assailants. He described her as a divorced mother who earned an income having parties with men and said the rape occurred after the men she was with tried to force her to drink whiskey and beat her up.
One of them was the son of a high-ranking government official, Ibrahim said, but otherwise there were no political implications to what he called a criminal case.
It is unfortunate she has to make a living in this way, he said.
Journalists have been pressing Ibrahim to allow them to meet with Obaidi to verify her story. But, he said, her family has so far refused to allow her to do so.
Obaidis father, Atiq Saleh al-Obaidi, said no such request had been relayed.
The only communication weve had was when they called us at 3 in the morning offering money if she recanted, he said.
He also contradicted the governments claim that his daughter was a divorced mother, saying she was single and has no children.
The incident offered insight into the regimes treatment of its citizens and the lengths to which it will go to prevent them from speaking out against the government. Journalists who tried to protect Obaidi were punched or knocked to the ground. One government minder pulled a pistol, and a CNN camera was smashed in the melee.
But with multiple news organizations on hand to record the event, video clips quickly found their way onto Facebook and Twitter, turning Obaidi into a symbol of defiance against Gaddafi among activists seeking to oust his regime.
Ahmed said she still has hope her daughter can be saved.

Colonel Gaddafi's son, Saif al-Islam, is touting a "transition" plan for Libya, according to the Saudi-owned newspaper, Asharq Alawsat.
Saif's plan "would see him take over control of Libya from his father during a transitional period during which Libya would transform from a revolutionary state to a democratic state that enjoys public and economic freedoms" the paper says.
The transitional period would last between two and three years, in return for a comprehensive ceasefire and negotiations with the opposition. Saif is also said to be pushing for assurances that "Colonel Gaddafi and his family will be granted immunity from prosecution, and will not be legally punished in any manner".
The report adds that Saif "has been in contact with officials in the US, British, and Italian governments, in an attempt to submit the above-mentioned plan".
Libyan opposition figures quoted by the paper dismissed Saif's plan as "just a new political manoeuvre" and "an attempt to gain time and fool public opinion".
But, assuming that this plan has the Leader's approval and is not an independent initiative by Saif himself, it does suggest the regime realises it cannot reassert control and will have to make concessions if it is to survive at all.~Cheer up, the worst is yet to come.~
