Ik las gisteren een opiniestuk in de krant, volgens mij van een Egyptische schrijver, die stelde dat de afgelopen jaren de macht was verdeeld in een kliek rond Mubarak, waarbij iedereen (Mubarak, zijn vrouw, zijn zoons en een paar prominenten) zijn eigen ding mocht doen onder voorwaarde dat ze niet op elkaars terrein gingen zitten. Een paar jaar geleden zou Gamal meer macht zijn gaan vragen / eisen, waardoor de problemen van nu zijn ontstaan. Dit zou dan ook de reden zijn dat Gamal zo 'snel' geofferd werd.quote:
