Je kunt mensen redelijk in twee groepen verdelen, denk ik. De ene groep vind X / XIII matig tot slecht en XII goed, bij de andere geld het tegenovergestelde. Zelf vind ik XII, ondanks dat het spel erg langzaam wordt tegen het einde aan, een fantastisch spel en vind ik XIII gewoon slecht. Onlangs weer met Final Fantasy X begonnen en dat was overigens ook weer heel erg leuk! Jammer dat ik er alleen apart mijn PS2 voor moet aansluiten

Moet zeggen dat ik Final Fantasy XII can ook weer een goed experiment vond, al zou ik denk ik liever een Matsuno spel met een dergelijk budget en niet de Final Fantasy naam zien. That figure is a tally of the fourteen numbered games from the main series, ports, direct sequels, and spin-offs. While Final Fantasy made its debut on the Famicom, the series mushroomed with Final Fantasy VII for PsOne.
Sony (specifically Sony Music Entertainment) congratulated Square Enix with a sponge cake and Twitter addict Shinji Hashimoto took a photo of it.

Final Fantasy Type-0 may have been delayed to fall, but it looks like Square Enix have updates planned to make up for the delay. Today, they updated the game’s website with a whole bunch of short videos.
Battles – Basic Knowledge
During battle, you control a party of three. You can switch between the character you control on the fly, and each one has their own weapon and abilities, which adds a tactical element to battles.
Kill Sight and Break Sight
Kill Sights are used to kill enemies in one fell swoop. When the lock-on cursor glows red, you can perform a Kill Sight. Break Sights are used to inflict a large amount of damage on enemies. During these, the lock-on cursor glows yellow.
Special Order
Special orders are specific objectives issued within missions. These orders can vary in their nature, and you have to carry them out within the provided time limit. Depending on the number of orders you successfully carry out, you’re rewarded with items and the like upon clearing missions.
Active Field Map
Finally, this video shows the world map, littered with tows and dungeons. You can traverse it on foot, Chocobo, or by air ship. You can also run into monster and enemy battles on the map.

Just last week, Square Enix announced that the long-awaited iOS port of Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions was submitted to Apple, which no doubt meant that the game would be out soon. Today on Facebook, they confirmed that release is in fact this week. Dated for August 4th (that's Thursday!), this version will be for iPhone (4 and 3GS) iPod Touch, with an iPad version on its way in about a month.
Square says they actually tried to run it on an iPhone 3G, but it was simply too slow. However, the retina display is supported, load times are definitely improved over the PSP version, and they were able to include a save feature and keep the English voiceovers. On the other hand, they had to cut out the multiplayer portion of the game.

Ga 14 maar weer eens proberen. Is maar 9 euro bij Dixons en je hoeft nog niet maandelijks te betalen
XIV staat nog steeds in de planning voor de PS3. Ze zijn de game dusdanig aaan het verbeteren dat de "oude" XIV uiteindelijk maar een (slechte) demo is van de vernieuwde XIV.
Versus XIII is nu pas in volle ontwikkeling. Wat is er dan in die eerste 5 jaar ontwikkeltijd gebeurd, vraag ik me af. Het werd wel op de E3 van 2006 aangekondigd, maar wie weet hoe lang daarvoor al aan de game gewerkt werd.
Dissidia 012 is (hoop ik) een flop geworden. Niet dat we straks een derde Dissidia game krijgen waar niemand op zit te wachten.
En er komt nog een muziek/ritme game van FF genaamd Theatrhythm Final Fantasy.

Last year, Square Enix ported their GREE social network game, Chocobo’s Crystal Tower, to Facebook. The game takes place in a land littered with towers. You get to raise a chocobo, battle enemies and and make it to the top of every tower to earn treasure.
You can then use your hard-earned loot to customize your chocobo further. You can even breed chocobos in the game to give birth to a new hatchling. Like a lot of social games, Chocobo’s Crystal Tower is a free-to-play title with paid item purchases.
Chocobo’s Crystal Tower was being maintained and updated by Square Enix’s Japanese division. Today, Square Enix Europe that they’re taking over the game’s development and plan to make changes and improvements to it, based on community feedback. You can try the game out here.

Heb me voorgenomen om ook maar eens te beginnen aan deze klassieke gameserie. Tijdje geleden wel begonnen aan XIII op de Xbox360, maar nog niet afgemaakt (verwarrend verhaal, lineair) en heb nu I & II voor iOS en ben bijna door I heen. Hoe kom ik nu het beste aan alle oude versies op een legale manier? Ben een beetje een lijstje aan het samenstellen.

Ik heb geen snes, of sony-console. Verder heb ik alle consoles van Nintendo (-snes). Dus er zal waarschijnlijk een 2ehands PS bijkomen. Voornamelijk over IV tot VI twijfel ik. Van VII tot XII zijn volgens mij geen remakes. Zijn alle PS1 games trouwens wel te spelen op een PS2?

Mij is altijd verteld dat je een ander geheugenkaartje nodig hebt omdat de PS1 opsloeg in blocks en PS2 in bytes, maar dat is al 10 jaar geleden dat dit mij verteld is, dus misschien heb ik het mis. Wat voor een FF game nogal een vereiste is ... eens kijken wat een PS1 met FFVII op marktplaats doet ...
Als je een goede pc hebt kan je spellen ook gaan emuleren. FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX en FFXII doen het prima op emulators, FFX weet ik niet zeker.
FFIV en FFVI zijn trouwens ook via de virtual console te spelen.
