BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU athletic director Joe Alleva says Les Miles is remaining as the Tigers' coach.
Miles met with officials from Michigan on Monday evening about the Wolverines head coaching job and Alleva says Miles notified him on Tuesday morning that he's staying in Baton Rouge.
Miles has a 61-17 record, five bowl victories and one national title with the Tigers in the previous six seasons.
Rich Rodriguez last week was fired as Michigan coach with a 15-22 mark in three seasons.
Ik ken hem niet... weet ook niet wat voor systeem ie runt...quote:ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Michigan has picked Brady Hoke as its new football coach.
Athletic director Dave Brandon announced the decision Tuesday, hours after LSU said Les Miles would be staying with the Tigers.
Hoke coached San Diego State in 2009-10 and was the Ball State coach from 2003-08. He will be introduced at a news conference in Ann Arbor on Wednesday.

Elke week in een andere outfit spelen is inderdaad behoorlijk vernieuwendquote:
Great hire, (hopelijk) geen 65-67 games meerquote:ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Greg Mattison is leaving to fill the same role on Brady Hoke's new staff at Michigan.
Mattison was also the defensive coordinator for the Wolverines during the 1995 and 1996 seasons.
"Greg loves Michigan, loves recruiting and is excited about coming back to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan," Hoke said in a statement. "Greg is one of the top defensive coordinators in football, and his defensive units have always prided themselves on stopping the run. He will be a great asset to our program and an excellent addition to our staff.
quote:BEVERLY HILLS -- Former University of Southern California tailback Stafon Johnson filed a lawsuit against the university in Los Angeles County Superior Court Monday, alleging negligence on behalf of former assistant strength coach Jamie Yanchar and the school in relation to the September 2009 weightlifting accident that threatened Johnson's life and football career.
Johnson was injured during mandatory team weightlifting workouts at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, two days after a USC home win over Washington State. Initial reports from the incident implied that Johnson's hands slipped and lost control of a bar while bench-pressing 275 pounds, causing the bar to drop and land on his neck and throat, but Johnson's lawyer, Carl Douglas, said that was not accurate.
"What we say occurred is that the bar was basically knocked out of his hand, causing it to fall on Stafon's neck, almost causing him to die," Douglas said at a news conference Monday afternoon. "We think for that, those that are responsible should be held responsible for their actions."

quote:Four former Auburn football players claimed they received thousands of dollars of cash from boosters from a number of schools on an HBO special that airs Wednesday night, according to the website Sports by Brooks.
The players, Chaz Ramsey, Troy Reddick, Stanley McClover and Raven Gray, alleged they received money as part of a pay-for-play scheme during their time at Auburn. None played there more recently than 2007.
"Somebody came to me, I don't even know this person and he was like, 'we would love for you to come to LSU and he gave me a handshake and it had five hundred dollars in there," McClover said in the HBO special, an advance copy of which was obtained by Sports by Brooks. "That's called a money handshake ... I grabbed it and I'm like, 'wow,' hell I thought ten dollars was a lot of money back then."
McClover told "Real Sports" that boosters from Auburn, Michigan State and Ohio State also arranged for him to get money and other inducements such as sexual services when he was being recruited in 2003. He originally committed to Ohio State but switched his commitment to Auburn after receiving cash that he said persuaded him to change his commitment. On that occasion, he said the cash was delivered in a bookbag. The amount was not disclosed.

Carr retired after the 2007 season with 122 wins and the 1997 national championship on his resume. Brian Griese, the 1997 quarterback and an ESPN analyst, made the announcement Saturday night when many of Carr's former players gathered for a fund-raising dinner for Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Carr was on the College Football Hall of Fame ballot this year for the first time. The full 2011 class will be announced Tuesday.
Present.
