Rich Franklin moves into main event after Tito Ortiz dropped from Vancouver show

The rumours are true: Chuck Liddell will take on Rich Franklin, and not Tito Ortiz, in the main event of UFC 115 in Vancouver.

Liddell and Ortiz -- both former UFC lightweight champions -- were originally booked to meet, for the third time, on June 12 at GM Place, with Season 11 of The Ultimate Fighter serving as the buildup with the two legends coaching opposing teams.

Reports surfaced in recent weeks, however, that Franklin -- a former UFC middleweight champion -- took over for Ortiz as coach during Season 11 of TUF after Ortiz was unable to complete filming.

UFC president Dana White and Ortiz initially denied all reports, but White later softened his stance, saying only that fight fans would have to watch this season of The Ultimate Fighter to see how it plays out.

UFC officially announced the card Monday.

Liddell has never fought Franklin and the Iceman has not won a UFC fight since beating Wanderlei Silva at UFC 79 in December 2007.

Tickets go on sale for UFC Fight Club members today, with the public able to buy tickets starting Saturday.

Prices are $76, $126, $201, $301, $401 and $601.

After three events in Montreal, this will be UFC's first foray into Western Canada.

"Our Canadian fans are among the most loyal and enthusiastic in the world, and we are thrilled to bring the UFC to Vancouver," said White.

With Franklin replacing Ortiz at UFC 115, it would help explain the cryptic messages posted by 'The Huntington Beach Bad Boy' on his Twitter account last month that led many to wonder what happened during filming of TUF 11.

"If things couldn't get worse. They just did!" Ortiz wrote on Feb. 24. "F***!!!! I want to thank all my fans for your support! . . . I guess business is business."

On Feb. 27, Ortiz posted more comments that got people talking.

"Thanks for all the support. Thinking that life couldn't get any harder? It just did! Another challenge that god has given me!" he wrote.

"Many things that challenge us in lives will make us stronger. One thing I can say is don't ever quit. Im strong because of my family and fan!!"
