Ik heb het Tebow-vraagstuk nog even geforward naar iemand die de Gators van dichtbij volgt en dit was zijn antwoordt op de vraag in welke ronde Tebow gedraft gaat worden.
Jacksonville leek logisch maar die hebben maar 1 pick in de 1e 2 rondes van de draft en met de 10e pick zijn er genoeg spelers beschikbaar die veel sneller inzetbaar zijn. Jacksonville kan natuurlijk ook de gok nemen en wachten tot de 3e ronde en dan hopen dat Tebow nog beschikbaar is (en je kan nog traden).quote:Tebow is having major problems in the senior bowl under the Miami Dolphins coaching staff. Tebow is a project, unless a team is willing to run an attack that fits his needs - tweak their playbook, put him in the shotgun, etc. He's a special talent where a team may try to tweak their playbook for him the way they did for Michael Vick in Atlanta. I think in the end though the percentages are that teams will view him as a project QB, and he will be taken in the late 2nd to mid 3rd round.

Is 't wat die 2 teams in London? San Francisco 49ers v Denver Broncos Club? Of is het weer zo'n reus vs kleintje match zoals andere jaren? i.e. de moeite waard van het gaan?
Toch vind ik het raar van Tebow dat hij zo laat ingeschat wordt. Wat is er voor een team met een slechte QB op tegen om het playbook volledig om te gooien?

Een playbook gooi je niet zomaar effe om. Dan moet je iemand hebben die een grondige kennis heeft van de offensive style die de Gators ook spelen (o.a. spread formations, option, shotgunformation, one back formation), en die coaches zijn er niet in de NFL (want die schemes gebruiken ze niet of nauwelijks in de NFL). Dus moet je, als GM of owner, minstens de helft van je offensive staff ontslaan en nieuwe coaches aannemen, de rest van je team een compleet nieuwe offense aanleren en ook nog first round money aan Tebow geven omdat je anders niet zeker weet of je hem in de tweede ronde nog kunt draften.quote:Op donderdag 28 januari 2010 21:03 schreef AmerikaanseTopsport het volgende:

Quite a commitment.
Nee een "slechte" QB maakt je beter door hem meer tijd te geven op het veld (dus een goeie tackle te draften) of playmakers bij hem het veld in te brengen. Verder kun je de competition op de QB spot wat opvoeren door een QB met upside in de latere ronden te draften. En dat laatste is eigenlijk precies wat Tebow kan brengen, geef hem wat tijd om het systeem te leren, zijn mechanics te verbeterem en je hebt na twee jaar een battle for the starting job.
Het punt wat over Alex Smith gemaakt werd is trouwens een goed punt, en misschien wel de beste referentie voor de Tebow situation

Waarom is Brett Favre eigenlijk helemaal niet populair? Hij is toch één van de beste QB's aller tijden? Ik weet er niet veel vanaf, maar normaal gesproken zijn dit soort figuren in de VS toch juist heel populair?

Despite his improved play, that didn’t prevent him from contemplating leaving football…yet again. And once again, NFL programming was dominated by Brett Favre discussion: Will he or won’t he retire?
Favre answered that question at a press conference on Mar. 4, where he tearfully sniffed and slobbered into the mash of microphones that “all good things must come to an end.”
His weeping seemed to indicate that this time, his leaving was legit.
And if it was legit, though his dabbling with retirement had been annoying, no one could deny he left on a positive note, something every athlete hopes to leave ringing in fans’ ears as the exit the stage.
As the mercury rose in July 2008, however, so did the rumor mill about Favre’s return. Football fans had been foiled yet again: Favre had an “itch,” an itch that needed scratching.
It must have been some scratch, as talk of his return never let up in the intervening months, reaching a full crescendo that July, after four months of constant speculation, innuendo and debate that raged on sports radio stations across the country, even primetime news talk (per Favre’s interview with Greta Van Susteren on Fox News’ On the Record with Greta Van Susteren).
Though his first few weeks of the 2008 started out great with the J-E-T-S, he finished the season throwing as many touchdowns as he did interceptions (22) leading the league in INTs. Though he’d fooled the football watching world several times with his “retirement” rantings, the way the Jets finished seemed to seal the deal that this time, he would retire…for real.
He confirmed those suspicions a few days after the Steelers’ Super Bowl victory, telling the big wigs of the New York Jets that his 18-year career had reached its end.
Only, it didn’t. Three months after his latest “retirement” incarnation, Favre began discussions with potential suitors. The Minnesota Vikings were the most interested.
