Roadburn is very pleased to report that seminal doom-legends DEATH ROW will be part of the festival line-up on Friday, 16 April 2010. Death Row will appear at the Midi Theatre as part of the Roadburn Festival. Tom Gabriel Warrior’s curated event “Only Death is Real” will be held on the same day at the 013 venue.

Out of the tumultuous past of their careers together… Victor Griffin, Joe Hasselvander, and Marty Swaney are bringing Death Row back heavier than ever. But this time they’re leaving the elements of deception behind… the darker images, which to some degree blinded them, and tore them apart time and again from the inside out.
Unfortunately, this reformation of Death Row will be without Bobby Liebling. “Parts of the past have certainly left scars on some of us that have yet to heal. Until then, we move forward with best wishes & prayers for Bobby’s success in Pentagram, and in his personal life”.
What you get from this Death Row will be the same true-to-heart heaviness you expect. Songs written during the formative years by Griffin will comprise most of the set list…along with songs penned by Joe, Victor, and co-written with Bobby…such as ‘The Ghoul’ and ‘All Your Sins’ …which feature lyrics by Liebling. The fans have really been the main catalyst for this reunion, as they bring the 3-piece* Death Row machine back across the sea.

Tom Gabriel Warrior, the founder of Swiss pioneers Hellhammer, Celtic Frost, and now TRIPTYKON has announced the first confirmed acts to appear at his curated event, titled Only Death Is Real, appearing exclusive at Roadburn Festival 2010 in Tilburg, Netherlands on Friday, April 16th.
Following is a list of the confirmed artists (along with THORR’S HAMMER, TRINACRIA and NWOBHM-legends WITCHFYNDE) each of which were handpicked by Tom, and following are their comments about being selected:

” Of course, it is an honour for jesu to be personally invited by Tom G. Warrior to perform at his individually curated ‘Only Death Is Real’ event at Roadburn 2010. It goes without saying, that the music of Tom G. Warrior has had an immense impact on the music, I, Justin K Broadrick, have been producing since 1985, in all of my guises, be it Napalm Death in the eighties, Godflesh in the eighties and nineties, and jesu currently…” -J K Broadrick.

Having honed their technical prowess over recent years while overcoming an enormous amount of adversity, Soilent Green will add a psychopathically frenzied dose of death-metalized stoner grooves, and we are extremely happy to welcome them to the Roadburn stage.

Ben ook naar Colour Haze geweest vrijdag, goed vermaakt. Erg fijne muziek, heb de albums "Los sounds de Krauts" en "Colour Haze" mee naar huis genomen.
Ik ben nog aan het twijfelen of ik naar Roadburn wil gaan. Lijkt me leuk om eens mee te maken, ik heb namelijk een hoop goede bands ontdekt door naar het programma van vorige jaren te kijken (en deze topic reeks te volgens), maar heb de indruk dat het grootste aandeel daar de kant van de doom metal op gaat, wat me toch niet helemaal ligt.
Ik ben nog aan het twijfelen of ik naar Roadburn wil gaan. Lijkt me leuk om eens mee te maken, ik heb namelijk een hoop goede bands ontdekt door naar het programma van vorige jaren te kijken (en deze topic reeks te volgens), maar heb de indruk dat het grootste aandeel daar de kant van de doom metal op gaat, wat me toch niet helemaal ligt.

Are you as obsessed with Krautrock as we are? You have to check out BBC’s Krautrock: The Rebirth of Germany. A documentary which looks at how a radical generation of musicians created a new German musical identity out of the cultural ruins of war.
Between 1968 and 1977 bands like Neu!, Can, Faust and Kraftwerk would look beyond western rock and roll to create some of the most original and uncompromising music ever heard. They shared one common goal – a forward-looking desire to transcend Germany’s gruesome past – but that didn’t stop the music press in war-obsessed Britain from calling them Krautrock.

Overigens een vraag over roadburn, ik heb gelezen dat je het via creditcard kaartjes kan kopen, en volgensmij ook via ideal, maar nu was meer mijn vraag of je ergens ook met handje contantje een kaartje kan kopen?
