Ik vond de special effects van Flowers Of Flesh & Blood toch aardig realistisch overkomen. Is nog een hele rel rond die film geweest zelfs juist omdat ie zo realistisch is:quote:Op zondag 1 november 2009 21:44 schreef Flitspaal het volgende:
Gini piggu is gewoon een enorm gore film. Maar je ziet zo goed dat het nep is, dat het niet ziek, maar echt beroerd slecht is. Baise-Moi is dan nog onderhoudend.
After viewing a portion of this film, actor Charlie Sheen was convinced the murder depicted was genuine and contacted the MPAA, who then contacted the FBI. FBI agent Dan Codling informed them that the FBI and the Japanese authorities were already investigating the film makers, who were repeatedly interviewed by the Japanese police and eventually summoned to court to prove that the special effects were indeed fake.

The movie was co-directed by actress (Coralie Trinh Thi) whose previous work was in unambiguously pornographic movies. The two lead roles were also played by former porn actresses, while porn actor Ian Scott appeared in the film as one of the rapists. Perhaps in part due to this, the film was criticized as thinly veiled pornography by many members of the media. Le Monde, for instance, called it a "sick film". Time magazine bucked the trend by saying "Virginie Despentes and Coralie Trinh Thi's festival sensation is stark, serious and original. And as one of the amoral avengers, Raffaela Anderson has true star quality – part seraph, all slut." The co-directors rejected the pornography charge: Trinh Thi said in an interview with the Sunday Times that "This movie is not for masturbation, [thus it] is not porn." Despentes concurred, saying their film "was not erotic."

Salò has been banned in several countries, because of its graphic portrayals of rape, torture and murder — mainly of people thought to be younger than eighteen years of age. The setting and the emphasis upon perverse consumption connects the brutality of Fascism to what Pasolini saw as the brutalizing effects of the modification of sexuality under late capitalism.
Salò was banned in Australia in 1976, then made briefly legal in 1993 until its re-banning in 1998. In 1994, an undercover policeman, in Cincinnati, Ohio, rented the film from a local gay bookstore, and then arrested the owners for "pandering". A large group of artists, including Martin Scorsese and Alec Baldwin, and scholars signed a legal brief arguing the film's artistic merit; the case was dismissed on a technicality. For a time, Salò was unavailable in many countries; it is now available, uncut, on DVD in several countries. Notably, in Sweden the film was never banned or cut. Salò was resubmitted for classification in Australia in 2008, only to be rejected once again. The DVD print was apparently a modified version, causing outrage in the media over censorship and freedom of speech.

Baise-moi vond ik beter (of eigenlijk minder slecht) dan verwacht, maar uiteindelijk vind ik geen van beide in de finale thuis horen.
