Golghar or the round house, the huge granary was built in 1786 by Captain John Garstin, at the biggest of the then administrator, Warren Hastings. Bihar experienced severe draught that resulted in acute famine in the year 1770. Alarmed by the situation faced by the people, this massive granary was constructed for the British army.

The enormous structure is 29 m high and is 3.6 m wide at the base. Overlooking the river and the plains, it looks like the upper half of a gigantic, decorated Easter egg, with the spiral stairway winding around this monument, adding to its embellishment. It offers a magnificent breathtaking view of the city and the river Ganges, flowing nearby.

The spiral staircase was so designed, in order to facilitate the passage of the coolies, who had to carry grain-bags up one flight, deliver their load through a hole at the top, and descend the other stair.

Klopt, want je weet echt niet waar je naar zoekt.
Zelfs met grain storage was het niet meteen duidelijk, tot ik het schilderij zag.
Het staat overal als Golghar bij google.

Ják kerk nabootsingHet Slot Vajdahunyad ligt achter het Heldenplein op een eiland van de stadsvijver in Boedapest, aan de Pest-zijde.

Achter het Heldenplein ligt de stadsvijver die in de zomer wordt benut door kanoërs en in de winter dienst doet als ijsbaan. Er vinden dan ijshockey-wedstrijden plaats en er worden internationale schaatswedstrijden gehouden. Op een eiland in de vijver ligt in een park het slot Vajdahunyad, dat hier werd gebouwd ter gelegenheid van het grote feest in 1896. Het is een kopie van een slot dat in Zevenburgen staat. De architect heeft geprobeerd verschillende Hongaarse stijlen in één gebouw te verenigen. Ook rond het kasteel hebben de gebouwen een verschillende stijl. Romaans (kerk), gotisch, renaissance en barok (het slot). Het portaal van de kerk is een nabootsing van dat in Ják. Rond de koepel staan vele beelden. Korinthische zuilen dragen de koepel. Tegenover de ingang van de kerk staat het bronzen beeld van Anonymus. Het is in 1903 door Miklòs Ligeti vervaardigd ter ere van een niet bekende schrijver uit de 12e en 13e eeuw, die vermoedelijk de eerste Hongaarse kroniek heeft geschreven. In het slot is een bouwkundig museum ondergebracht
