Omdat ik de drang voel om PeZu na te doen.
quote:
On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair
Warm smell of colitis, rising up through the air
Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light

It grew heavy and my sight grew dim
I had to stop for the night
There she stood in the doorway
with the admission bell
And I was thinking to myself,
'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell'
Then she lit up a candle
she showed me the way
There were voices down the corridor,
thought I heard them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place
Plenty of room at the Hotel California
Any time of year, you can find it here

Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes Benz
She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends
How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat.
Some dance to remember, some dance to forget

So I called up the Captain,
'Please bring me my wine'
He said, 'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine'
And still those voices are calling from far away,
Wake you up in the middle of the night
Just to hear them say...

Welcome to the Hotel California
Such a lovely place
Such a lovely place
Livin' it up at the Hotel California
What a nice surprise, bring your alibis

Mirrors on the ceiling,
Champagne on ice
And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device'
In the master's chambers,
They are gathered for the feast
They stab it with their steely knives,
But they just can't kill the beast

Last thing I remember, I was
headed for the door
I had to find the passage back
To the place I was before
'Relax,' said the night man,
We are opened to receive.
You can checkout any time you like,
but you can't never leave!

en om veel ellende te voorkomen op 1981 nog een draak van een plaat die niet veel hoger dan dit verdient

I remember every little thing
As if it happened only yesterday
Parking by the lake
And there was not another car in sight
And I never had a girl
Looking any better than you did
And all the kids at school
They were wishing they were me that night

And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!

Though it's cold and lonely in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light

Girl:
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed

Ain't no doubt about it
Baby got to go and shout it
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed

Boy:
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely dressed

Baby doncha hear my heart
You got it drowning out the radio
I've been waiting so long
For you to come along and have some fun

And I gotta let ya know
No you're never gonna regret it
So open up your eyes I got a big surprise
It'll feel all right
Well I wanna make your motor run

And now our bodies are oh so close and tight
It never felt so good, it never felt so right
And we're glowing like the metal on the edge of a knife
C'mon! Hold on tight!
C'mon! Hold on tight!

Though it's cold and lonley in the deep dark night
I can see paradise by the dashboard light
Paradise by the dashboard light

You got to do what you can
And let Mother Nature do the rest
Ain't no doubt about it
We were doubly blessed
Cause we were barely seventeen
And we were barely--

We're gonna go all the way tonight
We're gonna go allt he way
An tonight's the night...

Radio Broadcast:
Ok, here we go, we got a real pressure cooker
going here, two down, nobody on, no score,
bottom of the ninth, there's the wind-up and
there it is, a line shot up the middle, look
at him go. This boy can really fly!
He's rounding first and really turning it on
now, he's not letting up at all, he's gonna
try for second; the ball is bobbled out in center,
and here comes the throw, and what a throw!
He's gonna slide in head first, here he comes, he's out!
No, wait, safe--safe at second base, this kid really
makes things happen out there.
Batter steps up to the plate, here's the pitch--
he's going, and what a jump he's got, he's trying
for third, here's the throw, it's in the dirt--
safe at third! Holy cow, stolen base!
He's taking a pretty big lead out there, almost
daring him to try and pick him off. The pitcher
glance over, winds up, and it's bunted, bunted
down the third base line, the suicide squeeze in on!
Here he comes, squeeze play, it's gonna be close,
here's the throw, there's the play at the plate,
holy cow, I think he's gonna make it!

II. Let Me Sleep On It

Girl:
Stop right there!
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further--!

Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?
Do you love me!?
Will you love me forever!?
Do you need me!?
Will you never leave me!?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life!?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife!?
I gotta know right now
Before we go any further
Do you love me!!!?
Will you love me forever!!!?

Boy:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you my answer in the morning

Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you my answer in the morning

Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you my answer in the morning

Girl:
I gotta know right now!
Do you love me?
Will you love me forever?
Do you need me?
Will you never leave me?
Will you make me so happy for the rest of my life?
Will you take me away and will you make me your wife?
I gotta know right now!
Before we go any further
Do you love me?
And will you love me forever?

Boy:
Let me sleep on it
Baby, baby let me sleep on it
Let me sleep on it
And I'll give you my answer in the morning
Let me sleep on it!!!

Girl:
Will you love me forever?

Boy:
Let me sleep on it!!!

Girl:
Will you love me forever!!!

III. Praying for the End of Time

Boy:
I couldn't take it any longer
Lord I was crazed
And when the feeling came upon me
Like a tidal wave
I started swearing to my god and on my mother's grave
That I would love you to the end of time
I swore that I would love you to the end of time!

So now I'm praying for the end of time
To hurry up and arrive
Cause if I gotta spend another minute with you
I don't think that I can really survive
I'll never break my promise or forget my vow
But God only knows what I can do right now
I'm praying for the end of time
It's all that I can do
Praying for the end of time, so I can end my time with you!!!

Boy:
It was long ago and it was far away
and it was so much better than it is today

Girl:
It never felt so good
It never felt so right
And we were glowing like
A metal on the edge of a knife
There's a virus in my system
There's a virus in my brain
There's a virus in my system
And it's driving me insane

The Beastie Boys - (You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To Party)

Weetjes:

  • The closing track of Public Enemy's album It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back is titled "Party For Your Right To Fight" in reference to this song;
  • Atmosphere later included a track whose titled played on both songs, "Party for the Fight to Write", on their Lucy Ford album.
  • French electronic music duo Daft Punk's single "Revolution 909" has the words “Fight for Your Right to Party” at the bottom of the back of its cover
  • The 1990 film Look Who's Talking Too features John Travolta and Kirstie Alley singing a modified version of the song's chorus to baby Mikey while trying to get him to use the bathroom: "You gotta fight...for your right...to potty!"
  • The album's producer, and band's DJ, Rick Rubin appears in the video wearing the T-shirt of thrash metal band Slayer t-shirt who were another band on his label. Rubin can also be seen wearing AC/DC and Beastie Boys shirts. A very young LL Cool J appears in the video.
  • The song is featured in an episode "Home Away from Homer" of The Simpsons (Season 16).
  • On the Family Guy episode "Let's Go to the Hop", Peter comments "I gotta fight for my right to party."
  • Green Day performed a medley of the choruses of "Fight for Your Right" and "We're Not Gonna Take It" during a jam at the end of their Woodstock 94 performance.
  • Stand Up Comedian Roy Chubby Brown has used the song as his intro music on many occasions.
  • German thrash metal band Holy Moses has covered the song.
  • The song was covered by Cincinnati, Ohio metalcore band Beneath the Sky.

    Lyrics

    Kick It!

You wake up late for school man you don't wanna go,
You ask your mom "please?" but she still says "NO!"
You miss two classes and no homework
but your teacher preaches class like you're some kind of jerk

You gotta fight, for your right,
    to paaaaaaaaaarty

Your pops caught you smokin' and he said "NO WAY!"
That hypocrite smokes two packs a day!
Man living at home is such a drag
Now your mom threw away your best porno mag (Busted)

You gotta fight, for your right,
    to paaaaaaaaaarty

    You gotta fight

Don't step outta this house if that's the clothes you're gonna wear!
I'll kick you outta my home if you don't CUT THAT HAIR!!
Your mom busted in and said "WHAT'S THAT NOISE!?"
Aww, mom you're just jealous, it's the Beastie Boys!

You gotta fight, for your right,
    to paaaaaaaaaarty

You gotta fight, for your right,
    to paaaaaaaaaarty

    Paaaaaaaaaarty!

    Paaaaaaaaaarty!

1979 - Renegades of Funk - Rage Against The Machine

In 2000, Rage Against the Machine recorded the song for their cover album Renegades. They played it live for the first time at their reunion show at Coachella 2007. The music video directed by Steven Murashige was a montage of film stocked footage clips, as the band had broken up when the video was released.

"Renegades of Funk" is a song written by Afrika Bambaataa, Arthur Baker, John Miller & John Robie and recorded by Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force. Released in 1983 as a single on the Tommy Boy label, it was also included on the 1986 album Planet Rock: The Album. The song is an eclectic fusion of electronic music and heavy percussion, with politically fused rap lyrics that draw a connection between past revolutionaries and bohemians to present day street artists. It was produced and mixed by Arthur Baker and John Robie.

Part of the song was featured in "Weird Al" Yankovic's song "Angry White Boy Polka" on his album Poodle Hat.

    Tekst:
No matter how hard you try, you can't stop us now
No matter how hard you try, you can't stop us now

Since the Prehistoric ages and the days of ancient Greece
Right down through the Middle Ages
Planet earth kept going through changes
And then the renaissance came, the times continued to change
Nothing stayed the same, but there were always renegades
Like Chief Sitting Bull, Tom Paine
Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X
They were renegades of their time and age
    The mighty Renegades

    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)
    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)

    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)
    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)

From a different solar system many many galaxies away
We are the force of another creation
    A new musical revelation
And we're on this musical mission to help the others listen
And groove from land to land singin' electronic chants like
    Zulu nation
    Revelations
    Destroy all nations(x2)

Now renegades are the people with their own philosophies
They change the course of history
Everyday people like you and me
We're the renegades, we're the people
    With our own philosophies
We change the course of history
Everyday people like you and me
    C'mon!

    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)
    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)

    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)
    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)

We're poppin', shockin', rockin', put a side of hip-hop
Because where we're goin' there ain't no stop
Poppin', shockin', rockin', put' a side of hip-hop
Because where we're goin' there ain't no stop
We Poppin',and shockin',and rockin', and put a side of hip-hop!
'Cause we're poppin', shockin', rockin' put a side of hip-hop
Poppin', shockin', rockin', put a side of hip-hop!

    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)
    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)

    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)
    We're the renegades of funk
    (funk!)

    We're teachers of the funk
    And not of empty popping
We're blessed with the force and the sight of electronics
With the bass, and the treble the horns and our vocals
'Cause everytime I pop into the beat we get fresh!

There was a time when our music
Was something called a Big Street beat
People would gather from all around
To get down to the big sound
You had to be a renegade in those days
To take a man to the dance floor

    Say jam sucka!(JAM SUCKA)
    Say jam sucka!(JAM SUCKA)
    Say groove sucka (GROOVE SUCKA)
    Now groove sucka (GROOVE SUCKA)
    Say dance sucka (DANCE SUCKA)
    Say dance sucka (DANCE SUCKA)
    Say move sucka (MOVE SUCKA)
    Now move sucka (MOVE SUCKA)
    (x2)

We're the renegades of funk (funk)
We're the renegades of funk (funk)

We're the renegades of funk (funk)
We're the renegades of funk (funk)

We're the renegades of funk (funk)
We're the renegades of funk (funk)

We're the renegades of funk (funk)
We're the renegades of funk (funk)

The Great Below - NIN ft on the Fragile

    Staring at the sea
    Will she come?
    Is there hope for me
After all is said and done
    Anything at any price
    All of this for you
All the spoils of a wasted life
    All of this for you
All the world has closed her eyes
Tired faith all worn and thin
For all we could have done
And all that could have been

    Ocean pulls me close
    And whispers in my ear
    The destiny I've chose
    All becoming clear
    The currents have their say
    The time is drawing near
    Washes me away
    Makes me disappear

    And I descend from grace
    In arms of undertow
    I will take my place
    In the great below

    I can still feel you
    Even so far away

    Dancing Queen - Abba

Abba is een afschuwelijke band die zich op de en of andere manier in ons collectieve geheugen heeft genesteld.
Daarom horen ze stiekem in de top 2000, maar wel lekker laag.
En dan maar Dancing queen omdat het een hit was in 1977.

In 1992, the song was re-released in the UK, as Erasure sparked an ABBA revival after the success of their "Abba-esque" EP topping the UK charts. The re-issued "Dancing Queen" reached No.16 in the UK in September 1992.

In 2000, "Dancing Queen" came fourth in a Channel 4 television poll of "The 100 Best Number Ones" in 2001. It was chosen as number 148 as part of the 365 Songs of the Century list. It was also was ranked #171 on Rolling Stone's list of The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time[3], the only ABBA song on the list. That same year, it made VH1's 100 Greatest Dance Songs in Rock and Roll at number 97.

On November 9, 2002, the results of a poll, "Top 50 Favourite UK Number Ones", was broadcasted on Radio 2, celebrating the 50th anniversary of The Official UK Charts Company. 188,357 listeners voted and "Dancing Queen" came out at number eight.

In 2008 readers of the Australian LGBT website SameSame voted "Dancing Queen" "The Gayest Song of All Time".[1][2]

U.S. presidential candidate John McCain named "Dancing Queen" as his favorite song in a top 10 list submitted to Blender Magazine in August 2008.[4]

In August 2008, "Dancing Queen" surpassed the 500,000 mark for digital sales in the US (512,000)[5]

    The Prodigy - Breathe
