Sevilla might be excelling in La Liga but for Tom De Mul it has been a tough year, with the former Ajax winger struggling for any playing time.
Reports have surfaced that he could well leave this winter for fresh pastures, and indeed, speaking to AS today he didn't deny he could go elsewhere, but remained coy on his options.
"The year has not gone as I wanted," he began.
"I have played more than last year but the situation is difficult, I am not playing much and I do not know what will happen.
"I love Sevilla, and the club, but perhaps the best for me would be to move as I have to play. I am 22-years-old and that is an important age to play a lot, and to improve as a player."
Indeed, De Mul has found himself on the bench for most of the matches this season, but on the rare occasions he has been chosen to start, he has failed to impress. He says that he knows his position at the club, and that whilst there hasn't been any concrete offers for him, the management have said they could let him go.
"They [the club] say they are happy with me but that Jesus Navas is first choice in my position," he mused.
"They understand it is tough for me. Therefore they have said that if there is a team who wants to pay what Sevilla asks, then there is a chance they will let me go.
"I want a good club though, I do not know if that will be in Spain, it could be elsewhere, but it has to be a good team, otherwise I will not leave Sevilla.
De Mul was signed by Sevilla for about ¤5 million and he thinks that this would be the price that they would want to sell him on for, although he admits he has not been told anything by the club so far.
The former Ajax man did give an inkling as to where his preferred move would be though, after he commented on the strength of the Premier League.
"The Spanish league is very good, where all the teams want to play football and do it well," he declared.
"Along with the English it is the best, but that is a harder and stronger league than Spain."
