Drama starring Timothy Hutton rewarded with second season after averaging 3.2 million viewers in debut run. The good kind of thieves and con artists.
TNT knows drama, as their slogan says, and it appears they can't get enough. The ad-supported cable network has ordered a second season of one of its new original programs, Leverage. The next season, scheduled for 15 episodes, is set to begin later this year.
Leverage follows a group of do-gooder thieves, con artists, and hackers who are out to help the less fortunate in the battle against the rich and powerful. Timothy Hutton stars as a former insurance investigator whose son was killed as a result of corporate trickery. Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf, and Aldis Hodge round out the cast.
The early-December debut of Leverage drew an impressive 5.6 million viewers, and over its first nine episodes has averaged 3.2 million viewers.
TNT has been in full-steam-ahead mode as of late, adding Leverage and Trust Me to its slate of originals over the past two months and greenlighting the upcoming Time Heals and The Line.
