Bron: BBC 6 Musicquote:Miles Kane reveals plans to work with Gruff Rhys on their second album
The Rascals are currently writing their second album and look set to head into the studio with the Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys. Speaking to 6 Music, Miles Kane said: “We’re gonna be trying some stuff with Gruff. We’ve got to set the date and that but yeah, I’m very excited to try it with him and see where we go because I really respect him and he’s a nice fella.”
They plan to go into the studio to record the follow-up to Rascalize over the summer and Kane said they’re headed in a different direction.“It’s quite fresh sounding, quite Lennon-like, T-Rex. It’s got a bit of a summer vibe to it as well, quite different,” he explained.
As for the recording location, he said they’re planning on finding somewhere that befits the sunny sounds of the new material. “We hopefully want to go away to somewhere like Wales, somewhere green, and make a boss record,” added Kane. “It’s been good to get away from the gigging and the madness of it all, to chill and really concentrate, get your head down and write some songs.”

Another band to show off new songs at festival was The Rascals, who featured Echo And The Bunnymen drummer Damon Reece filling in for Greg Mighall, who had injured his foot.
Playing at the Stanley Theatre, the Mersey trio played tracks off their 2008 debut album 'Rascalize' plus new songs 'Sex Grindin'', 'King Crawler', 'Take The Night' and a John Lennon-esque song Miles Kane has just written that morning named 'Colour Of The Trap'.
The band also covered Echo And The Bunnymen's 'All That Jazz'.

Black Lips, Metronomy and The Rascals were among the acts who played on the second night of the Liverpool Sound City festival last night (May 21).
The Rascals played a set of covers at the Heebie Jeebies venue for the after-show part of a showing of the 'Awaydays' film, at one point joined by Echo And The Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant to play the latter band's song 'All That Jazz'.
The band also covered The Strokes' 'Last Nite' plus The Beatles' 'Come Together', 'Be My Baby' by The Ronettes and Iggy Pop's 'The Passenger'.

The Last Shadow Puppets of The Rascals?". Zucht.
