Travis Barker en DJ Am involved in deadly plane crash

De 32-jarige Barker, voormalig drummer van de Amerikaanse rockband Blink 182, en Goldstein liepen ernstige brandwonden op door een vliegtuigongeluk in de Amerikaanse staat South Carolina.

De twee worden aan hun verwondingen behandeld in een ziekenhuis in de staat Georgia. De vier andere inzittenden van het toestel kwamen om het leven.

TMZ has obtained a photo of Chris Baker just moments before he boarded the Learjet that crashed on takeoff.

Baker sent the cell phone photo at 11:22 ET, 31 minutes before the plane crashed. Baker e-mailed the photo to a friend with the text, "Go hard on the block."

Baker, Travis Barker's assistant, was one of the four people who died in the crash. The video of the jet was shot by Baker before he boarded.

The pair have been undergoing procedures this week to treat their burns.

De 32-jarige muzikant heeft het gevoel dat er een engeltje op zijn schouder zit. "Als je zo'n groot ongeluk overleeft, dan is er iemand die over je waakt", stelt een woordvoerder van Barkers kledinglijn Famous Stars and Straps. "Hij probeert opgewekt te blijven."

Barker en Adam Goldstein, die optreedt als DJ AM, waren de enige inzittenden van het toestel die het ongeluk overleefden. Twee passagiers, onder wie een assistent en een bodyguard van Barker, en de twee piloten stierven toen de privéjet van de landingsbaan op een vliegveld in South Carolina raakte.

Klapband

Mogelijk was een klapband de oorzaak van de crash, zo blijkt uit een geluidsopname uit de cockpit. De jet raasde van de baan, brak door een hekwerk en kwam, in een zee van vlammen, tot stilstand op een nabijgelegen weg.

Barker en Goldstein wisten voortijdig uit het vliegtuig te springen en zo aan de dood te ontsnappen. Ze werden met tweede- en derdegraads brandwonden opgenomen in het ziekenhuis.

Eerder voorspelden hun artsen dat de twee volledig zullen herstellen.

Jermaine Dupri denkt dat Travis Barker nog ongeveer twee weken in het ziekenhuis moet blijven, waar hij is opgenomen na een vliegtuigongeluk.

Dat vertelt de muziekproducer aan het Amerikaanse tijdschrift People. Hij bezocht de muzikant, met wie hij samen het kledingmerk So So Def heeft, vorig weekeinde in de brandwondenkliniek waar hij verblijft.

Barker liep vorige week vrijdag brandwonden op over een groot deel van zijn lichaam toen het privévliegtuig waarin hij zat van de landingsbaan raakte en, in een zee van vlammen, op een nabijgelegen weg tot stilstand kwam.

Brandwonden

DJ AM liep bij de crash brandwonden op aan handen en hoofd. De anderen vier inzittenden, onder wie de assistent en de bodyguard van Barker, overleefden het ongeluk niet.

Volgens Dupri gaat het naar omstandigheden goed met zijn vriend. "Het gaat goed, hij komt er wel weer bovenop. Maar het wordt een lang helingsproces."

Comfort

Er wordt in het brandwondencentrum waar hij verblijft alles aan gedaan om het de voormalige drummer van Blink-182 zo comfortabel mogelijk te maken.

"Hij krijgt alles tot zijn beschikking waar hij behoefte aan heeft: iPods, computers, alles wat hij wil", vertelt Dupri.

As for Travis' health, he's supposedly "not in good shape" and everything is still very "serious".

He'll continue to receive treatment at an LA center.

He e-mailed me pictures of the plane and wrote, 'It's really small and scary.' I had a bad feeling, but didn't want to sound strange, so I said, 'Be safe.' "

Shanna honey, that "gnarly feeling" could have been cured with a little ointment and some Valtrex.

When Shanna was asked why Travis made the comment on his blog about not seeing her since the first week he was in the hospital, she answered, "Trav and I are so crazy. We are off for one week, on the next. I would never abandon anyone in his condition, and I have made sure he had a support system. My feelings are deeply hurt. I wish him a speedy recovery and am thankful he's alive."

She forgot to say, "Oh! I couldn't visit him, because I was too busy preparing my own sob story for this interview! DUH."

Sources tell TMZ DJ AM had been "completely devastated" over a recent breakup with his girlfriend, Hayley Wood.

We're told they split within the last week -- she was the one who called off their relationship.

We're also told he was having a very hard time dealing with post-traumatic stress from the plane crash he survived in September of last year.

DJ AM has been sober for nine years, but our sources say the breakup and the stress over the plane crash could have caused him to start using drugs again.
