Smullen geblazen en niet zo'n klein beetje ook voor de liefhebbers van de betere duistere klanken! Meteen na Oud & Nieuw een gratis knallende Cyberia, eind februari een dijk van een festival met onder ander Feindflug en Jesus and the Gurus live op de planken en aan het begin van die maand de Summer Darkness Winter Edition 2009, gevolgd door Cyberia.
Inmiddels is het winterse zusje van het grote Summer Darkness festival in augstus niet meer weg te denken uit de donkere concertagenda. Met maarliefst twee internationale headline-acts en twee Nederlandse groepen staat Tivoli de Helling een hele live-avond in het teken van de betere (dark)electro, synthpop, industrial en veel meer. Na afloop van de bands natuurlijk een dampende Cyberia-dansnacht met de resident-DJs: -X-X-X, Krat en DistortedChaos. Op de Summer Darkness Winter Edition 2009 worden de eerste namen van het grote Summer Darkness festival bekend gemaakt. Bovendien worden dan de nieuwe Summer Darknesswebsite en het nieuwe SD meisje gelanceerd!
Darkwave en synthpop van de allerbeste soort vind je bij Diorama. Dit duet tussen Torben Wendt en Felix Marc (NamNamBulu / Frozen Plasma) staat bekend als één van de meest toonaangevende en vernieuwende acts uit de wave-scene. Melancholisch én atmosferisch bewegen deze twee moeiteloos tussen vervoerende ballads en pompende clubtracks.
Voor dat laatste kun je Faderhead ook wel laten lopen. Dat bewees deze duizendpoot op Summer Darkness en op tour in ons land. Electropunk met een goed stel hersens, bravoure én spetterende melodie: al drie albums lang draait Faderhead zijn hand niet om voor een portie stevige dansvloerkrakers met industriële beats en catchy pophooks. Diorama en Faderhead stellen op de Summer Darkness Winter Edition 2009 allebei exclusief hun nieuwe platen live voor.
Support komt van het Nederlandse NG-Pro. Afgelopen zomer verscheen 'The Place To Be' dat een beukende darkelectro/industrial cocktail serveerde. Technoide, compromisloos en uitermate dansbaar is NG-Pro één van de heetste Nederlandse darkelectro-acts.
Onder het motto dat in oorlog en liefde alles geoorloofd is, vlamt het veelbelovende splinternieuwe Schwarzblut uit de startblokken. Nederlands, maar voorzien van Duitse vocalen tekent dit trio voor sinistere electro-industrial.

Sad lovers and Giants weer een beetje herontdekt met het album Epic Garden music en ook the Sisters of Mercy wil mijn playlist weer eens vullen. Gothic rock is tof.

Haha, the Sisters schijnen niet helemaal leuk meer te zijn. Beter koop je een extra cd'tje en kom je naar Amstelveen voor CoX. Ze zijn zó goed live, ik verbaas me er telkens weer over.

Ik heb ze gezien tijdens de Smoke & Mirrors tour van een paar jaar geleden. Erg veel viel er niet te zien maar in elk geval heb ik ze eens live meegemaakt.

Influenced by bands from the German and UK (minimal) electronic scene, Dirk Ivens (synths & voice) formed Absolute Body Control early 1980, and was joined by Mark de Jonghe (synths) and Veerle de Schepper (backing vocals). After releasing a track on the "Blitzpop 1" compilation and the release of their first 7" single "Is there an exit?" (1981), wich became a
local underground hit, Mark leaves the band. Eric van Wonterghem, who was in fact a spectator at the first ABC concert, filled in the gap and became Dirk's new musical partner for years to come. Releases remained rare with tracks popping up on obscure compilations and tapes, but it would take until 1993 for the first and only ABC cd ('Eat This') to be released. It
took 80s cultact ABC 22 years to reform and return to the stage in 2006. Now the entire ABC catalogue is available and with a new smashing and popular album and single the ABC future is wide open again...

Morgenavond Combichrist in de P60 in Amstelveen, nog meer mensen die gaan?

Er zijn bepaalde aspecten die ik niet helemaal begrijp.l Een voormalige vriend van mij was echt helemaal fan van blackmetal en neofolk. Ik vind zelf enkele bands ook wel aardig en ga af en toe als ik er geld voor heb en tijd naar een concertje. Die gast maakte af en toe grappen over het NS karakter van bepaalde bands om mij in de zeik te nemen, eerst was dat grappig, later werd het vervelend, toen hij ook nog eens aan kwam zetten met echte nazi's als nieuwe vrienden was het een beetje over. Ik spreek hem tegenwoordig nauwelijks meer
Dit hele gedoe met Thronhstahl, wat moet ik me daarbij voorstellen? Is het een grap net als Laibach? Ik zie vele gothic of industrial acts die ook covers hebben met oude sovjetshit er op enzo.

Ik geloof dat Von Thronstahl wel daadwerkelijk behoorlijk rechts is van politieke kleur, hoewel onlangs een vriend van me dat nog liep te ontkennen. Met hen is ook eens een incident geweest op het WGT festival te Leipzig waar ze behoorlijk liepen te provoceren, wat er precies allemaal gebeurd is weet ik echter niet. Misschien dat Elegy daar meer over weet, die zit meer in dat neofolk wereldje.

Von Thronstahl is de enige (grote) die er ook voor uitkomt dat ze rechts zijn. Andere bekende bands zoals Der Blutharsch, Death in June, Dernière Volonté, Sol Invictus en Kirlian Camera zijn dat niet. Je zou ze hooguit kunnen beschuldigen van een bepaalde mate van euro-centrisme.
In Leipzig mochten ze inderdaad eens niet optreden. Toen ze toch de bühne opkwamen lieten ze een tape oid draaien. Interessant is dat er toen een aantal mensen uit het publiek toen met de rechterhand omhoog gingen staan maar Von Thronstahl zelf dus niks deed. Ze zijn trouwens elk jaar wel op WGT te vinden met een standje, zo schijnt.
Eens in de zoveel tijd komt deze discussie weer terug. Hmm daar zal ik als communist echt nooit naar toe gaan. Een soort vreemde verheerlijking voor het fascistische verleden van Europa met uitschieters zoals het eren van de Ustasha (katholieke marionettenfascisten in wo2) en de ijzeren garde als ik het interview wat ik op internet gelezen heb goed heb begrepen. Het is niet openlijk racistisch, zoals bands zoals Skrewdriver ofzo, dus vind het enigzins overdreven van de antifa om hier aandacht aan te besteden maar aan de andere kant t'is wel erg tegen het randje. Ze zullen ongetwijfeld populair zijn in Spanje, Italie en Kroatie. De fascistische ideologie maakte veelzijdig gebruik van katholieke tradities en keltische/paganistische symboliek. Ik snap wel dat dat best aantrekkelijk is in tijden van culturele en ideologische armoede. maar uiteindelijk komt fascisme hierop neer: 'When you strip fascism of all its organisational and ideological crap then it is nothing more then a definitive sollution for class struggle; the total destruction and exploitation of democratic forces in the interests of the highest financial circles'
Dernière Volonté ook? Naar wat ik begreep hebben die hun optreden op ZXZW afgezegd omdat ze niet met een rechtse band als Der Blutharsch wilden worden geassocieerd, die daar ook optreden.

DV is niet rechts, tenminste, de muziek is a-politiek en houdt zich voornamelijk bezig met de franse geschiedenis maar het is een vrij populaire band in het genre. Twee jaar geleden waren ze hier in Het Paard in Den Haag en dat was erg tof.
Ik weet niet, Albin Julius is misschien wel rechts maar geen fascist. Tracy, de eigenaresse van Lalaland heeft veel contact met hem en kan dat bevestigen. Of het optreden daarom is afgelast, dat lijkt me wel sterk eigenlijk.
