Josh Homme to produce for Sheffield band
Queens Of The Stone Age's Josh Homme has told NME.COM that he is set to enter the studio with Arctic Monkeys in the USA next month to produce new songs for them.
Homme explained that the Sheffield band will fly to Joshua Tree, California next month to record new tracks.
He said that it had not yet been determined whether the songs would be released as an album or a single, as they were just experimenting at this early stage.
"I think it's going to work out great," Homme told NME.COM. "They want to submerge themselves in a place that's the opposite of where they're from and what they're used to.
"I think we're just going to start by doing a couple of tracks. No pressure. The goal is to make something that they dig so much that everyone else can too."

Ben er niet kapot van, maargoed
Die baslijnen van Andy zijn er niet op vooruit gegaan
Overigens klinkt het wel weer dik. Ben benieuwd naar de 'massive track'.

Matt Helders will also be launching a clothes shop upstairs
Arctic Monkeys are buying a pub in their native Sheffield, according to reports.
The band's drummer, Matt Helders, is purchasing the boozer with ex-Arctic Monkeys bassist Andy Nicholson so the rest of the group will have somewhere to relax when they return home.
The pub, called The Bowery, will open on September 20 - and apparently there will be some very special guests playing the launch night.
According to the Daily Mirror there will also be a shop selling Helders' clothing range with the Supreme Being label upstairs.
A source said: "Matt and Andy have had their eye on setting up a pub for ages. When the property came on the market they had to have it."
They added: "It's perfect, Matt puts in most of the money and Andy can DJ there and manage it when Matt is off touring. All the lads can relax there and bring their mates."

LEAVING their platinum discs and sell-out arena tours well behind them, the Arctic Monkeys are expected to play at a remote rural pub in the region this weekend.
The Sheffield band, named Band of the Year at this year’s Brit Awards, are among a number of big-name stars expected to appear at the Sing Ye From The Hillsides festival at the Tan Hill pub, near Richmond, North Yorkshire, this evening.
They are guests of the Arctic Monkeys’ producer, James Ford, who is holding his stag night at the festival.
About 200 tickets went on sale for the festival night – organised by Mercury Music Prize nominees British Sea Power – and soon sold out.
But Mr Ford managed to buy 30 tickets for his guests – who also include charttoppers Mark Ronson and The Klaxons, and The Horrors.
Martin Noble, guitarist with British Sea Power, said the Mr Ford’s stag night will include “a show” at some point over the weekend.
“They want to do some jamming, maybe some cover versions as well,” he said.
The festival will also feature husky-racing, falconry, duck-herding, a pub quiz and an attempt to record the loudest ever human voice.
Mr Noble said the band stumbled across the Tan Hill pub while touring for their last album in November last year.
He said: “We were looking for unusual places to play and we were tipped off about the pub.
“It went brilliantly. The Tan Hill is just a magical place.”
The pub is Britain’s highest pub at 1,732ft, and its bleak North Pennine surroundings will provide stark contrast to the venues frequented by the likes of Mark Ronson and the Arctic Monkeys.
But it is not too far from home for most of the members of British Sea Power, as three out of four members come from Kendal, in Cumbria.
Tracy Daly, landlord of the Tan Hill, remained tightlipped on the special guests, but added: “We are excited about it all. We don’t know how it is going to pan out.”
Although weekend tickets sold out weeks ago, a limited number of day tickets are still available for tomorrow, priced £22, from the Tan Hill, on 01833-628246.

Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner will release a recording of him reading an original short story, 'The Choice Of Three', on October 13.
The recording of the reading of the story, written by Turner, will appear on a compilation helmed by his band-mate, drummer Matt Helders, as part of the 'Late Night Tales' compilation series.
As previously-reported, Matt Helders' 'Late Night Tales' compilation will feature songs from the likes of Roots Manuva, The Rapture and The Coral.
Turner's spoken-word piece will close the album.
The story begins: "In the tunnel I noticed I had a choice of three. While I thought it very kind of them to offer me this I do wonder if they realised what a dilemma they were sending to face me.
"The trouble was if I looked at your reflection in the left window I missed the actual image of you and your reflection in the right, and if I looked at the right I had the same problem the other way around."
Turner will read a sequel to the story at the launch party of the album, at north London's Lock Tavern on October 19.
Meanwhile, by the time you read this, Arctic Monkeys will be deep into the recording of their third, currently more psych-rock-sounding album, with eight songs, including those debuted on their winter 2007 tour (the garagey "Put Me In A Terror Pocket" being stand-out) recorded in January, and session recommencing in July. "There's one called "Pretty Visitors" that's quite full-on," Turner reveals, "The drumming on it's amazing." [..]
