FIRST BANDS ANNOUNCED FOR ROADBURN 2009
Neurosis & Roadburn are proud to announce the first confirmed bands for Beyond the Pale at Roadburn 2009
The Young Gods, Akimbo, US Christmas and Guapo, along with Neurosis, are among the first confirmed bands for the inaugural European version of Neurosis’ acclaimed Beyond The Pale festival, set to be held at Roadburn 2009 on Saturday, April 25th @ 013 Popcentrum in Tilburg, Holland.
"The mission of Beyond the Pale is for us to honor the spirit and power of sound with people that we feel are kindred spirits" -Steve Von Till.
"Over the years we have continued to admire The Young Gods’ music and their contribution to original heavy music", says Steve Von Till, "One of my favorite daily rituals during our brutal touring schedule in the late ‘90s was hearing our soundman Dave Clark test the local PA systems with The Young Gods, pushing the speakers to their limits. We are proud to have The Young Gods appearing with us this year for Beyond the Pale at Roadburn 2009."
"Guapo's albums have only become more intriguing, delving deeper into a strange space both claustrophobic and expansive, leaving most of their so called “prog” counterparts seeming to wander inertly with a lack of emotion. Guapo will absolutely bring a desired level of depth and complex harmonics to Beyond the Pale."
Scott Kelly comments, "When you see Akimbo you see a band that has been hardened from the road, a band that has been focused on the sound and the sound alone, and a culmination of experience thrown at you on a lightning bolt."

Roadburn 2009 will run for three days from Thursday, April 23rd to Saturday, April 25th at 013 Popcentrum in Tilburg, Holland. There will be an additional Afterburner event on Sunday, April 26, 2009. More info about Roadburn, including confirmed bands for Beyond The Pale and the full festival will follow soon.

Young Gods zijn altijd geweldig live, 1 van mijn favoriete bands. Weinig stoner aan maar dat is nou net het leuke van Roadburn.

But Doomsdayer's Holiday finds their already-broad palette continually expanding with 70s European film noir and cosmic free jazz explorations complimenting the Middle Eastern psychedelic folk-metal the group is already known for. After a wildly prolific three-year streak that saw the band ceaselessly pushing forward, Grails have finally made an album that pushes back.

Dat Darkest and heaviest valt wel mee, verder wel een goeie plaat alleen het begint allemaal een beetje op elkaar te lijken met de vorige platen.
Deze week komt er een nieuw album uit van Candlemass (Lucifer Rising) met daarop 2 nieuwe nummers en 9 live nummers.
Hun vorige album King of the grey islands vond ik een goeie comeback.

Die Che plaat heb ik ook gehaald (had 'm al op cd). Een van de beste Brant Bjork releases naar mijn mening.
"SunnO))) presents: Pentemple" is een aanrader als je van de Gravetemple en Burial Chamber Trio releases houdt. I vind 'm erg sterk.
Domkirk heb ik gereserveerd.

Wat ook zo irritant was bij dat optreden, Jesu was het voorprogramma van ISIS. Dus ISIS was bezig met het laatste nummer, maar dat verviel in een hoop effect apparaat geneuzel (waarbij ik eigenlijk al afhaakte, maar ik dacht: ach, het duurt misschien maar even). Komt die knakker van Jesu het podium opgelopen, steken ze met z'n allen gezellig een jointje op en gaan met fucking vier gitaristen op de grond zitten en aan de knopjes draaien. Nou, toen gingen we maar naar huis
