For the second year running Netherlands coach Albert Stuivenberg has led his team to the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and again is kicking off with a match against the hosts.

'Great experience'
Last year Stuivenberg's side drew with Belgium, who pipped them to the semi-finals, but the 2005 runners-up take on Turkey in Antalya on May and the coach believes his side have a great chance. "A lot of these boys have already played in their first teams – Feyenoord, PSV [Eindhoven] and [AFC] Ajax," Stuivenberg told uefa.com. "But this is a team who do well as a team rather than individually. We know what we have to do. It will be a great experience for the players, which is the most important thing."

Qualification comeback
The Netherlands' progress to the finals was not completely smooth. They dominated their qualifying round group, including a 1-0 win against France, who were also to make it to Turkey, but opened the Elite round on home soil with a 1-0 defeat against Bosnia-Herzegovina, and were grateful when that side were held in their remaining two games allowing the Dutch to sneak through by beating Norway and Hungary 2-0. "It's been a good experience of course," Stuivenberg said. "We were very disappointed with the loss against Bosnia-Herzegovina, but then something happened in the team and I am pleased with that. We came back very strongly and I think we deserved to qualify."

Turkey test
Turkey, who beat the Netherlands to the 2005 title, Serbia and Scotland provide the Group A opposition for Stuivenberg's squad. "We are very happy with the draw as we are very happy to be here again," the coach said. "It is the third time in four years - we are very pleased with that. [Turkey] are favourites as the home team, everybody expects a lot of Turkey so there is also some pressure on them. But we'll do our best. If you are in the last eight of 53 teams, they will all be great teams."
