The Forbidden Kingdom (Chinese: 功夫之王) is a forthcoming martial arts adventure film which is the first film collaboration between martial arts veterans Jackie Chan and Jet Li, with action choreography by Yuen Woo-ping. Filming was completed on August 24, 2007 and it went into post-production on September 29. As of April 2007 the film is officially titled The Forbidden Kingdom, before it had been often referred to as The J & J Project (Because it's the first joint project between Jackie Chan and Jet Li). Director Rob Minkoff (who previously helmed such films as The Lion King and the Stuart Little films) will be behind the camera while Yuen Woo Ping will handle the fight choreography. Film studios Lionsgate and The Weinstein Company, will share distributing duties.
A 21st Century American teenager takes a spellbinding, dangerous journey into martial arts legend in the new action/adventure epic FORBIDDEN KINGDOM. Shot on location in China, THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM marks the historic first-ever onscreen pairing of martial arts superstars Jackie Chan (RUSH HOUR, DRUNKEN MASTER) and Jet Li (FEARLESS, ONCE UPON A TIME IN CHINA), and features the awe-inspiring action choreography of Wo Ping (THE MATRIX, CROUCHING TIGER HIDDEN DRAGON). While hunting down bootleg kung-fu DVDs in a Chinatown pawnshop, Jason (played by Michael Angarano - “24”, “Will and Grace,” LORDS OF DOGTOWN, SEABISCUIT) makes an extraordinary discovery that sends him hurtling back in time to ancient China. There, Jason is charged with a monumental task: he must free the fabled warrior the Monkey King, who has been imprisoned by the evil Jade Warlord. Jason is joined in his quest by wise kung fu master Lu Yan (Jackie Chan) and a band of misfit warriors including Silent Monk (Jet Li). But only by learning the true precepts of kung fu can Jason hope to succeed - and find a way to get back home.

Drink ik.
Zowel Jackie Chan en Jet Li zeggen dat ze deze film niet zo goed vonden, vooral de vechtscenes niet, en dat het vooral was gemaakt voor de Amerikaanse markt. Mij lijkt het wel geinig.
ps: ik heb de naam van Jackie Chan per ongeluk verkeerd gespeld in de TT, als een moddereter dat kan fixen, dank!

Tja... Jackie heeft al in geen jaren meer een degelijke film gemaakt, en Jet is hit-and-miss.
Daarnaast klinkt het als een typische Hollywood kinderfilm, waar ze weer zo nodig een dom blank amerikaans tienersterretje in hebben moeten gooien, anders verkoopt het natuurlijk niet (!) Zucht.
Maar goed, de trailer ziet er aardig uit, dus wie weet blijkt het toch mijn zeer negatieve verwachtingen te overtreffen...
Maar persoonlijk kijk ik meer uit naar Chocolate, Fatal Move, Kung Fu Panda, en nog wat andere films die de komende maanden uit zullen komen.
