The poem is also the inspiration behind the single's video in which clowns brawl. Another poem was printed inside the 10" release of the same single. Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys has said he is very fond of Cooper-Clarke's work and takes inspiration for lyrics from his poems. A version of his poem "Evidently Chickentown" is performed at the start and end of the video for Joy Division's "Transmission" single which shows John Cooper Clarke reading the refrain and third verse from the poem whilst coming down escalators and then walking in the Manchester Arndale Centre.

Alex Turner is set to make a guest appearance on Tony Christie's new album.
The crooner, most recently known for the Comic Relief re-release of '(Is This the Way To) Amarillo' in 2005, is currently making a new album with Richard Hawley, and the Arctic Monkeys frontman will be guesting. "We've been looking at songs from Sheffield so I asked Hawley 'Is there anything from the Monkeys'?" Christie told NME.COM.
"I'm going to look at doing 'Only Ones Who Know'. Alex has told Hawley he's up for it and he'll pop in." The album, due out in October, will also feature an appearance from Jarvis Cocker.

Denk dat er een (slechte) grappenmaker bezig is geweest op de Wikipedia van onze Engelse vrienden, er staat namelijk dat het derde album dat ze begin 2009 uitbrengen 'Lesbian Tuesdays' gaat heten...

Arctic Monkeys fever has hit Glastonbury, as all four band members have been spotted on site. The quartet had previously indicated they would attend this summer's festivals as punters, however with the whole band turning up this weekend (June 27-29) the rumour mill has gone into overdrive.

Alex Turner, Matt Helders and Jamie Cook were expecting to just relax this year.
But after their storming Arctic Monkeys set last year they said they wouldn't mind standing in if needed.
We bet Amy would look better on the dancefloor. Although Alex with a beehive? Mmm...

Ik vind het ietwat sadistisch om te zeggen, maar ik hoop bijna dat ze er nog slechter aan toe is dan eerder deze maand.
