Vandaag m'n Omega Massif CD binnengekregen. Geisterstadt beukt behoorlijk de pan uit.

Die laatste OM is erg goed trouwens. Als je into OM bent dan. De laaste HoF is trouwens ook erg erg goed. Terug op het ouderwetse niveau.

Brant Bjork was goed in de W2. Wat minder relaxed als normaal, wat meer rock. Hij zat er zelf niet helemaal in had ik zo het gevoel maar toch was het erg tof.

Net weer eens geluisterd naar "Under the stress of a headlong dive" van The Heads. Dat is toch wel even heftig spacen.

Het is onbetwistbaar Monster Magnet met nummers die op alle andere CDs van ze hadden kunnen staan. Dat is zowel een pluspunt als een minpunt. Pluspunt is dat het gewoon lekkere muziek is. Minpunt is dat als je al wat CDs van MM hebt dit wat meer van hetzelfde is. Maar waar ik zelf bijvoorbeeld God Says No een zwakke variant vond is deze CD juist wel sterk. De CD 4-Way Diablo lijkt denk het sterkst op Dopes to Infinity (maar het kan komen dat ik beinvloed ben door de kennis dat de CD door dezelfde producer geproduceerd is), maar is iets evenwichtiger. Het mist (op eerste gehoor) de enorm sterke start van Dopes, maar zakt ook nergens in.
Ik luister nu voor de tweede keer naar de CD op CD-vorm en bij de tweede beluistering bevalt-ie me nog beter. De CD is overigens ook in z'n geheel op MM's Myspace pagina te beluisteren, maar klinkt overduidelijk beter via CD (maar dat kan liggen aan de betere boxen bij m'n instalatie in vergelijking met de computer
)Ik kom er nog op terug naar meer luisterbeurten - want het lijkt er nu echt op dat de CD per luister beurt beter wordt.
Gister nog wel naar Ozric Tentacles geweest. Was wel OK, maar na een uurtje had ik het wel gezien.

Ja Ozric is niet echt mijn ding. Het vroege werk is wel tof, later werk trekt me niet.
DDD was tof. Pagan Altar op het einde was best leuk. Dat had ik niet verwacht.
Mirror of Deception speelde ook. Dat was een lichte deceptie gezien de erg matige vocals. Oja Esoteric live was best goed. Jammer dat ze niet langer konden spelen.

Had wel naar de DDD gewild, maar het kwam er niet van gister. Mirror of Deception was trouwens op een van de vorige DD's ook al een tegenvaller imo. Hoe waren Malasangre en Indesinence?

Converge, Orchid, Morser, Caliban, Shikari, Breach...the list is expansive and far transcends the infamous 'Bremen scene'. Do not let these names fool you though. The originators were the masters, and for people who like genuinely intense, dark, challenging, extreme music of any form - this record is impossible to fault.

A stripped down members of Estradasphere starving/backpacking/musical debauchery tour with Timb Harris (violin/trumpet/guitar), Jason Schimmel (guitar,vocals), and Tim Smolens (bass,vocals) will be happening from November 22nd through December 9th. Timb and Jason are playing at the John Zorn Masada festival in Milan, Italy on Nov. 23rd where they will be performing with both Secret Chiefs 3 and Zorn's Cobra. To coincide with this festival we have decided to fly Tim out and book a mini europe tour for the 16 days following the Masada festival. We currently have 2 gigs confirmed. One is on the 30th in Rotterdam, Netherlands and the other is on the 4th in Madrid, Spain. The rest of the dates are open as of right now. We need help from anyone who is willing and able. We want to play as many gigs as possible. So anyone who has any connections with getting gigs in western europe please help us. We would love to play in Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Denmark, U.K, and possibly even Germany if we can get over there. But feel free to give us any opportunities in countries that I have not mentioned as well. Plus we are very limited as far as resources go. So if anyone can give a place to stay for a couple nights that would be incredible. We are also traveling with one extra person so that makes the total four. We are hoping to stay in each city for two days so we are open to playing gypsy gigs in coffee shops and street corners so let us know if you have anything. Also since we are traveling so light if anyone can lend us an Upright bass for any amount of time that would be great. Tim can only bring an electric but would love to play upright if can get one. Jason will be bringing two guitars but if anyone has an extra guitar amp he would love to have one if possible. The band won't perform their unusual and uncompromising marijuana-induced grind. Instead, CEPHALIC CARNAGE is going to drone out at Roadburn 2008, beckoning the festival attendees to enter the Halls of Amenti. Indeed, CEPHALIC CARNAGE is going to play the entirety of "Halls of Amenti", their ultra doom-influenced record from 2002, as part of an entire set of drone and doom. The band will be doing this special set only at Roadburn during their forthcoming European tour, and performing "Halls of Amenti" live for only the second time ever.
Singer Lenzig van Stroking comments: "Cephalic Carnage is going to drone out with the droniest of the drone at Roadburn 2008, and be a mile high while doing it -playing Halls of Amenti, and plodding through the chaos with visuals that will bring tears, sighs, awes,smiles and joys...or sadness. It will be a complete honor to play such a prestigious event in an amazing country and city. In other
words: Our live performance will be like Dillinger Escape Plan plodding through the La Brea Tar Pits."
