Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi has warned Coach Domenico Di Carlo his job is hanging by a thread.

“Today the squad and the Coach failed this test,” he said of the 3-0 defeat at Sampdoria this afternoon.

“We played well for the opening 25 minutes, then conceded a goal and the entire team just disappeared. This is disconcerting.”

The Gialloblu are in the relegation zone with just six points from eight games, including four defeats.

“We can never manage to really evaluate the strength of the squad because they start out well and then collapse at the first sign of difficulty.”

This is Di Carlo’s first ever Serie A campaign and it could be over earlier than anticipated.

“The Coach has my faith, but dammit we need to turn this around fast!” added an exasperated Ghirardi.

“The tactician has responsibility for the team. I will put pressure on him to give different orders. We need more grit and character. The players are there – I know because I pay 25 sets of wages.”
