"Stari Most", built in 1566 and destroyed in 1993 during the Bosnian war, has been reconstructed, and now it connects the Muslim and Christian parts of the city again. On July 23rd 2004, the official opening will take place, and one week later, a century-old tradition will be continued: the bridge jumping contest, mother of all cliff diving events. Within the framework of the "Red Bull Ikari" event on July 31st 2004, hundred courageous divers from all parts of former Yugoslavia will jump 22 metres deep into Neretva river – an occasion symbolising a conciliatory new beginning. Also at place are six internationally re-known divers, among them Orlando Duque from Columbia, world’s best cliff diver. They will show their spectacular pirouettes in the side programme. Thousands of spectators will watch the happenings on the streets and on the roofs and balconies of the neighbouring houses. Red Bull Ikari is a public festival of peace and understanding, offering first class sports and exciting acrobatics at the same time. Diving into the water with a speed of more than 100 km/h, the athletes need courage, lots of practice and absolute physical control. We guarantee spectacular pictures of this prominent event.
