Royston Drenthe - a name to remember as Nani is left in the shadows..
So then, last night I tuned into Sky Sports One to get my first taste of what Reds fans can expect this coming season from Portuguese winger Nani who was playing against Holland for his country in the under-21s Euro Championships.

What I saw didn't really impress me that much I have to say, Nani was shall we say was rather theatrical when he was tackled, often going down as if he'd been shot with an Elephant gun.

We have been led to believe this lad has a fabulous left foot and can take wicked free-kicks, but when Portugal were awarded a free-kick on the left in a dangerous area, Nani didn't take it... I have to confess at this point that I did not see the whole game and one report in the Daily Telegraph claims he was impressive enough on the night.

The player that really took my eye though was another brilliant young player, Holland's left sided attacking winger Royston Drenthe, now this lad really does look like the real deal and it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if one of our rivals signs him this summmer. Chelsea or Liverpool would be my best bet.

I have seen various clips of Nani scoring goals on the net and doing his 'death leap', let us hope that the £17m turns out to be money well spent.

The final score was Holland 2-1 Portugal and Nani did not get on the score sheet.

Celtic watch Royston Drenthe

Celtic are among a rumoured 15 clubs hoping to secure the signature of Dutch Under-21 star Royston Drenthe.

The 20-year-old, who currently plays for Feyenoord, has impressed during the UEFA Under-21 Championships and can play at left-back or further down the park on the left side.

Drenthe is thought to have been watched by Celtic scout John O'Hare, who will surely have a notebook full of possible targets when he returns to Parkhead.

Andre Wasiman, Drenthe's agent, said: "We've got a lot of proposals to talk about the future. How many? Ten or 15, and of big clubs."

With fellow Dutchmen Evander Sno and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink already at Parkhead, perhaps Drenthe will decide to make the move. If he does, there is little doubt that his youth and versatility will add an extra dimension to Gordon Strachan's squad.

Forget Ryan Babel, Royston Drenthe is the star of the Dutch U21 side. This kid has a lot of class, phenomenal class....Damn-it!

Talk about: intelligence, power, acceleration, dribbling skills, passing vision and most importantly end-product, he has it all. Imagine a hybrid of Ronaldhino and Edgar Davids and you are beginning to form a picture of what he could bring to the party.

To be honest I just scratch my head and wonder how someone who was so clearly born to play as an attacking midfielder, could have been so woefully misplaced by his club positionally -- he is currently a Feyenoord's fullback...doh!

At the moment he is currently playing in the U21 competition, and stared in the game against portugal (which also featured Manchester United's new signing Nani...who incedently was totally outclassed by Drenthe).

Drenthe revealed he is content to carry on at Feyenoord, where he has a contract until 2011, though he told uefa.com he dreams of one day playing in England's Premier League. The team who signs this talent up are going to be onto a £30-40 million player in 3-4 years time, ...hopefully that team is Arsenal.....

Zodra clubs echt met geld gaan staan zwaaien houdt Feyenoord hem echt niet hoor, ook al heeft hij een doorlopende contract.

Je weet dat jullie niet echt in de positie zitten om een mooi bod af te slaan in financieel opzicht.
