Ebbsfleet make historic signing

Non-league Ebbsfleet United have made history with the signing of Brentford defender Darius Charles. The Blue Square Premier club is owned by fans' website MyFootballClub, whose 32,000 members voted in favour of spending £25,000 on the 21-year-old. It is the first time the club has recruited a player in this way.

The money for Charles, who has had two previous spells on loan at the club, came from the £140,000 sale of striker John Akinde to Bristol City in August.

The club's membership paid £35 a year ago to help purchase Ebbsfleet and be able to vote on major decisions. They can have their say on team selection, vote on player transfers as well as other decisions affecting the club.

In July last year, striker Michael Gash's move was aided by a MyFootballClub initiative, which raised £20,000 for manager Liam Daish to invest in his squad. And in September, the decision to sell Akinde was also voted on by the website's members.

Just a quick reminder that MyFootballClub will be broadcasting the FA Trophy third round game against Swindon Supermarine tomorrow free for all our International members. The game will kick off at 3pm (GMT)

We will be placing the live streaming player on the Dashboard late tonight/early tomorrow. The player is 740px in width (basically the width of the website) and is great quality. We tested it yesterday, and bar a 20 second delay or so, worked perfectly.

We plan to broadcast the whole game and have commentary provided by Tim and Tom (the normal match commentators). We hope to get short interviews from players and personalities at the club.

The player will only be visible to international members.

FA Trophy Ticket Price Vote

In the event of our Quarter Final FA Trophy tie at Wrexham (21/2/09) being a draw, the club has been asked to submit ticket prices for the potential replay at Stonebridge Road to the FA. This needs to be done by 3pm (GMT) tomorrow (Friday 6 February).

Members now have the opportunity to set ticket prices for this match should it go ahead. There is much to consider; we have struggled to attract decent gates midweek, the need for a great cup atmosphere, the two clubs share the gate money and the need to generate revenue elsewhere (bar, refreshments, programmes, shop etc).

The ticket price options are as follows:

£13 (adult) £7 (concession) [normal league match prices]
£10 (adult) £5 (concession)
£7 (adult) £3 (concession)

This is the quickest vote we've had so far and we've pulled out all the stops to enable members to have the final say. I hope you have time to consider and then vote on the issue before 3pm tomorrow.

Ik lees ook net pas dat dit het dorp is waar de Eurostar vanuit Frankrijk stopt, dus het is eigenlijk de makkelijkst bereikbare plaats in Engeland om even heen te gaan voor een wedstrijd.
