The STRDB1080 QS Series receiver combines superb build quality and engineering with a stylish aluminium front panel. In keeping with the QS series tradition, the design of the STRDB1080 significantly reduces background noise while delivering an exceptionally dynamic audio experience. Sony has provided a wealth of controls for tailoring a perfectly balanced sound field. Variable adjustment is provided for parameters such as front speaker, reverberation, wall material compensation and bass, middle and treble turnover frequency control.

For the cinematic enthusiasts, the STRDB1080 features 6.1 channel processing to deliver the latest Dolby Digital EX and DTS-ES 6.1 (Matrix and Discrete) encoded movies. The receiver also supports DPLII, DTS Neo: 6 and is the first QS receiver in the Sony range to incorporate DTS 96/24 playback.

As with previous QS series receivers, the STRDB1080 also features analogue direct modes with digital shutdown for clean analogue amplification when listening to high quality sources such as SACD.

Another distinguishing feature of the STRDB1080 is its versatile A/B or A+B speaker modes to enable playback in more than one room. When combined with a fully programmable multi-brand remote control, this stylish home cinema receiver can adjust to almost any home cinema scenario.
STRDB780 QS Series Home Cinema Receiver

The STRDB780 receiver is the first model in Sony's current QS series line up. As with all QS series receivers the STRDB780 has been has been designed to appeal to those who rate audio performance at the top of their priority list but who do not require the more advanced user features incorporated in the STRDB1080. Behind the stylish aluminium front panel is an abundance of high quality components and innovative engineering typical of the Sony QS Series HiFi components. Some of the core QS series technologies are: a rigid chassis, computer-optimised short signal paths, SF heat sinks, slanted PC boards to reduce standing waves, and high powered MOSFET output stages.

In deference to the cinephile, a range of versatile EQ features and options are also incorporated, including subwoofer crossover control, bass and treble EQ with turnover control, wall material compensation, and Dolby Pro Logic II features such as centre width, dimension and panorama control.
