quote:Terry Jenkins is set to return to PDC action this week for the first time since March as he attempts to secure qualification for the 2018 World Championship at the Alexandra Palace later this year.
The nine-time major finalist claimed that he was going to scale down his Pro Tour commitments this year, but he has entered the final set of Players Championship events in Barnsley as he attempts to salvage his World Championship hopes.
The 54-year-old has fallen to 30th on the PDC Order of Merit after John Henderson’s magnificent run to the World Grand Prix semi-finals last week, and Jenkins faces missing out on his first World Championship since 2005 if he slips outside the world’s top 32.
Nevertheless, with the ranking money that’s set to be deducted in the lead-up to the World Championship, ‘The Raging Bull’ is set to drop to 33rd in the world, which would see him potentially miss out on a final Ally Pally hurrah.
In an interview last October, Jenkins outlined his retirement plans, revealing: “I’m going to wind it right down after the World Championships. I’ll probably knock the tours on the head; particularly the European Tours, and just play what I’m in through the rankings really.
“It is getting hard for me now. I joined the PDC in my late 30’s so I joined pretty late really; I wish it would have all happened when I was in my mid 20’s when I had a bit more time to go, but I’m 53 now and it’s getting hard work at the minute, so I’ve got to do something and wind it down,” he admitted.
Jenkins’ last appearance in PDC competition came at March’s Coral UK Open, where he suffered a second-round exit to fellow veteran Wayne Jones. He competed in three UK Open qualifying events in February, but has not participated in any of the 20 Players Championship events held so far this year.
Nevertheless, the Herefordshire ace has opted to return to Pro Tour action after an eight-month hiatus in a bid to seal his spot at the Alexandra Palace later this year.
The final two Players Championship events of 2017 will take place at the Barnsley Metrodome on Tuesday & Wednesday, but big names including Michael van Gerwen, Raymond van Barneveld & Phil Taylor will all be absent.
If Jenkins fails to secure enough ranking points to preserve his top 32 status in this week’s double-header, he will be forced to enter the World Championship qualifier at the Arena MK on November 27th.

Volgens mij heeft Lewis wel stuk minder te verdedigen. Of kijk je naar verkeerde WK?quote:Op vrijdag 20 oktober 2017 15:32 schreef borisz het volgende:
Wie heeft wat te verdedigen?
Gando 300k
Jackpot 150k
Barney, Klaasen 70k
Smith, Wright, Wade, Norris 35k
MvG, Benito, Suljovic, Chizzy, VVDV, Caven, Webby, Taylor 22k
Darren Webster, Bunting, Beaton, vd Bergh, Gilding, Pallett, Ronny H, Kist, Gurney, K. Anderson, Murnan, Newton, Evans, T. Jenkins, Painter, King 15k.
32 man oa Dirkie, De Zwaan, Dekker, Wattinema 10k.
Vooral Adrian Lewis moet uitkijken. Bij een slecht toernooi is het direct uit de top16. Maar ook Barney zal toch wel moeten presteren. Lewis heeft nog een beetje Pro Tour-score, maar Barney staat daar op plek 44 en dan kan het opeens hard gaan naar beneden.

Ah uiteraard, 2 jaars OoM sorry. Volgend seizoen zal hij sowieso moeten presteren want WMP valt dan ook af in loop van het jaar.quote:
