The reasons.
First of all we are going to tell you why we
have chosen this book.
We thought this book was interesting because the book is about a boy who is going to live with his poor aunt so his life will change after that. We wanted to know how he was going to handle it.
General information about the book.
As you know, the title of the book is
'leaving home'. It's written by Jan Michael.
The year of publication
is 2008. The themes of this book are poverty and friendship. We chose poverty because the story is about a boy called Sam who was pretty rich until his parents died so he
has to live with his poor aunt in a poor city in Malawi. The book describes his new life in this poor
environment. You mostly read about how he
has to work for the family and what he thinks about his new home.
We have also chosen friendship as a theme of this book because when Sam moves to his new house, he meets some children. He has to work with them
, but he can also have fun with some of them. At the end he knows that friends are important.
Characters.
We're going to describe the characters of the book.
Sam is the main character in this book. He is Aunt Mercy's nephew.
Before his parents died, he was
wealthy and had plenty of stuff like his books and hes sports shoes. When he had to live with his poor Aunt Mercy, his life changed and he wasn't that rich anymore.
Sam can be nice and
sweet to people but he is so attached to his expensive
belongings that he would rather not lend them.
Aunt Mercy is very sweet to
everyone. She takes care of many children who don't have parents anymore. She also takes care of Sam
because they live together.
Ezelina is Aunt Mercys daughter. She is twins with her brother Enock.
She is exactly like her mother, because she's also very sweet and helpful to
everyone. She is also friends with Sam.
Enock is Ezelinas brother. He is not as helpful as Ezelina. He can be nice
, but first he has to know you well and
get to know someone's personality. For example, when he meets a stranger, he isn't as nice as when he knows you for months.
Macdonald is Ezelina and Enocks cousin. He also lives with them. He loves to play football. But he dislikes Sam because he is jealous of his expensive
belongings.
