Ben niet zo dol op zijn live muziek. Behalve het newport festival. Vindt je zijn stem dan niet minder?

Ik vind zijn stem op platen meestal gemaakt, opgeklopt, gereverbt, etc., studioproductiegeluid, amechtig proberen van CBS om het acceptabel te maken voor de grootste gemene deler, jan publiek.
Of je zijn stem (ook live) welluidend vindt is kwestie van smaak.
Dat laat jan publiek zich echt niet aanpraten. De meeste hiervan vinden het ondanks alle postproduktie niet welluidend, jammer dan.
Maar zoals hij met intonatie, timing, net voor de maat uit, net achter de maat aan, 3,5 maten overslaan en de volledige tekst in de 2,5 overblijvende maten proppen, noem maar op, phrasering geloof ik, elke song overtuigingskracht kan meegeven, daarom draai ik (ook van andere acts) vrijwel uitsluitend live. Livebands zijn ook leuker om te horen dan studiomuzikanten.
Bovendien een plaatopname is van 10tallen jaren geleden op een toevallig tijstip opgenomen, een serie recente live concerten waardeer ik als meer uit het heden.

Isis vind ik het beste nummer, werkelijk briljant. White stripes hebben het gecoverd en ik moest een beetje huilen hoe ze het hebben verneukt. Zoek maar niet op op jijbuis.

Nog niet rijk genoeg denk ik. Hij gaat 5boeken schrijven heb ik gehoort. of hij wil gewoon (nog steeds) in de aandacht staan.

Ik heb dat gevoel altijd bij Bob Dylan nummers, you know something's happening, but you don't know what it is... En dat maakt Dylan een groot magier. De allergrootste.

In a coming together of two of the greatest living songwriters, Mark and his band will be joining Bob Dylan for a series of shows around England and Europe this autumn.
Both artists will be taking a coterie of their own musicians and as usual Mark has assembled a group of players who are the best in their field. The band will consist of Richard Bennett on guitar, Guy Fletcher on keyboards, Jim Cox on piano, John McCusker on violin & cittern, Mike McGoldrick on flute, whistle & pipes, Glenn Worf on bass and Ian Thomas on drums.
Mark has taken a break from recording his next album in order to participate in what is likely to be the must see show of the year. Mark's association with Dylan dates back to 1979 when he played on Dylan's Slow Train Coming Sessions and then produced Bob's acclaimed 1983 release Infidels.
Mark says, "I'm much looking forward to going out on the road with Bob in such a special year. Also, it was an honour to be asked to record one of Bob's songs on the forthcoming Amnesty International 50th anniversary album to mark his 70th birthday"
