Genomen door astronaut William Anders tijdens de Apollo 8 missie op kerstavond 1968; op moment van posten van dit bericht exact 55 jaar en 5 uur geleden.

Aan de hemel van het Japanse Kurobe verscheen dinsdag een bijzondere wolk. Het gaat om een lenswolk.

De SS United States zit op dit moment op sleeptouw vanuit Philadelphia op weg naar Alabama.
Foto is genomen voor de kust van North Carolina.

De SS United States is de grootste Amerikaanse oceaanliner ooit én en de snelste oceaanliner ooit, toen ze op haar eerste Atlantische oversteek in 1952 het record van RMS Queen Mary verbrak.
Een record dat ze nog steeds draagt en ze is dan ook nog steeds de officiële drager van de Blauwe wimpel.
Sinds 1996 lag ze in de haven van Philadelphia. Restauratiepogingen vonden geen doorgang en op 14 juni kon na een rechterlijke uitspraak de huur worden opgezegd en moest ze de haven verlaten.

In Alabama zal het schip van schadelijke stoffen worden ontdaan en ze zal uiteindelijk voor de kust van Florda worden gezonken om zo het grootste kunstmatige rif ter wereld te vormen.

Nederlandse lichtinstallatie brengt Twin Towers voor even terug in New York

American Airlines vlucht 11, een fractie van een seconde voor de impact in de noordelijke toren van het World Trade Center
in New York.
De foto komt van een kunstinstallatie van Wolfgang Staehle.
Hij had 2 webcams geplaatst met uitzicht op Manhattan. Deze werden gecombineerd in een panoramabeeld.
De webcams namen elke 4 seconden een foto. Dit begon op 6 september 2001 en ging door tot begin oktober.
De bedoeling was om dit dan later real-time af te spelen; dus een real-time voorstelling dat enkele weken duurde en dat overgang van late zomer naar herfst zou afbeelden.

Het is een van de 3 (tot nu toe bekende) beelden van de impact van vlucht 11 (naast de videos van Jules Naudet en Pavel Hlava) en omdat het feitelijk een reeks foto's zijn en geen video, is het de enige foto van vlucht 11.
