DANNY THE DOG OST

Virgin Records will release Massive Attack's original score to the Luc Besson film Danny The Dog on 11 October.

The band were approached personally by Luc Besson and the film's director, Louis Leterrier, to record the soundtrack. Working over an 11-week period, the band set out to create an instrumental soundtrack which captures both the fast-paced action and reflective sadness of Danny The Dog. The soundtrack is made up of 21 pieces of music, which run in chronological order throughout the film, with each piece depicting a certain scene, from the intensity of tracks such as Atta' Boy, Simple Rules, Collar Stays On, You've Had A Dream to the haunting dub and ambience of Sam's Tunes, Right Way To Hold A Spoon and Everybody's Got A family, the soundtrack demonstrates perfectly the band's gift for capturing the intricate mood of film.
Danny The Dog is a martial arts thriller starring Jet Li, Bob Hoskins and Morgan Freeman. It is the story of Danny(Li), a slave who has lived his life without any sort of normal human education, with the mind and personality of a young child, with only one lesson learned: how to fight. Treated like a dog by his owner, Bart(Hoskins), which includes having to wear a collar, Danny fights in illegal gladiator-style fight clubs. After a car accident that lands Bart in a coma, however, Danny meets a kind elderly blind piano tuner(Freeman), who uses music to teach Danny some humanity.
Danny The Dog is a film about the power of love, the terrifying realities of man's capacity for violence, and the wonder of music.
Danny The Dog OST will be released on 11 October.

Te gek dat massive weer een nieuw muziek album uit heeft, maar wat is die copy-beveiliging zwaar en zwaar ruk. :S

100th Window was ook erg goed, alleen jammer dat het een beetje eentonig klinkt.

Ben benieuwd naar dit nieuwe album!

Soundtrack album 'Danny The Dog' is totaal anders dan de andere massive attack albums, wat natuurlijk ook niet echt gek is gezien het een soundtrack is. Er staan mooie nummers op, over het algemeen is de sfeer wat somber/donker, wat me persoonlijk wel aanspreekt. Na 100th window is dit trouwens wel een openbaring. Mooi album!!

Damn, ik heb hem al zien liggen ja. En net tijdens een financiele crisis...

Thx, toch kopen die hap dus. Er zijn niet veel band die ik orgineel op schijfje heb. Maar MA is daar een goede uitzondering op. Maar de download is inmiddels ook binnen. Ik ben benieuwd.

Het is een sfeerplaat, geen album als protection of mezzanine, het is typisch film muziek, gave coole donkere muziek die je lekker in je auto als je snachts op de snelweg aan het rijden bent kunt luisteren.
100% massive attack houdt tegenwoordig trouwens alleen 3D in, maar dat zal ongetwijfeld bekent zijn.

Ergens wel jammer, dat ze de vocalisten eruit hebben gefilterd. A prayer for England met Sinead O Connor heeft een hoog kippenvel gehalte.

Welke vocalisten? Horen er vocalisten in? Ik mis geen vocalisten hoor, wat mij betreft is dit o.k. zo!

Weet iemand wanneer Massive Attack weer optreedt in Nederland?

Ik wil ze graag live zien

Afgelopen week heb ik een aantal nummers beluisterd van de nieuwe CD en was zwaar onder de indruk.

De O.S.T. van Danny The Dog heb ik zelfs niet eens beluisterd.
Maar die nieuwe cd 'collected' heb ik toch maar besteld.

Ik heb 'm hier ook liggen, en ik moet zeggen dat ik zeer onder de indruk ben van het nieuwe materiaal dat op de achterkant van de DVD staat, zegmaar...

Ik heb hem ook pas binnen en het nieuwe werk is erg lekker inderdaad.
