Bij 'heftige seks' zoals ze zelf achteraf zei, liep ze gebroken ribben en een doorboorde long op. Tijdens de behandeling raakte de actrcie, ook bekend van de serie Men behaving Badly, besmet met een ziekenhuisbacterie. Volgens haar advocaat heeft het ziekenhuis een besmette naald gebruikt.
Leslie, moeder van twee kinderen, moest stoppen met acteren. Haar man Chapman is nog enige tijd gearresteerd geweest. De politie kon niet bewijzen dat hij haar had mishandeld.
De serie Mersey Beat was bij de Vara en op de Belgische televisie te zien.

The husband of actress Leslie Ash will not be charged over an alleged assault on her sister.
Former premiership footballer Lee Chapman was arrested in June after a complaint by Debbie Ash.
But the Metropolitan Police have confirmed that no charges will be laid. "Following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service the man has been advised that there will no further action," a spokeswoman said. Mr Chapman has been on bail since his arrest.
Sex injury
In April, Leslie Ash needed treatment for a broken rib and collapsed lung. She said she got the injury when she hit a bedside table during "rough sex" with Mr Chapman.
The 44-year-old former Leeds United striker was arrested following that incident, but was later released without charge. Mrs Ash made no allegation of assault and described the incident as merely "embarrassing".
Mrs Ash is recovering after she contracted the Methicillin-Sensitive Staphylococcus Aureus (MSSA) bug while being treated after the incident. The bug temporarily left her with no feeling below the waist. BBC
