suc6 met Alicequote:Q. Why are the Strength and Will meters in the center of the screen?
A. This issue is due to a lack of video driver support under Windows XP. It is essential that you have the absolutely most current video drivers installed for your system to ensure compliancy with this new operating system. Many older cards may not be updated with the needed drivers and no solution is possible. This is true of all 3DFX cards since they are no longer in business. Check YOUR video card manufacturers web site for the most current Windows XP drivers.
Q. Why does Alice lockup on a Gray or Tan screen?
A. The gray or tan screen lockup is most commonly the result of some trouble communicating with the sound card in the computer. Make sure the sound card is configured properly:
1. Go to the control panel and double click on the Multimedia icon.
2. Click on the Audio tab. Change the Playback Preferred Device to the name of the sound card in the computer.
3 . Click on Apply, then OK or Close.
If the sound card is selected properly and the trouble still exists try lowering the sound acceleration level.
To lower the sound acceleration:
1) Left Click on START
2) Left Click on RUN
3) Type "dxdiag" in the box
4) Left Click on OK - This will launch the directX diagnostic tool.
5) Left Click on the SOUND tab
6) Locate "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" under directX features.
7) Move slider to the second notch from the left. It should read "basic acceleration" after doing so.
8) Left Click on EXIT to return to the desktop
