Steve Reynolds

Als voorprogramma bij Tom McRae in de Melkweg in november 2004 viel hij op.
Een fraai voorprogramma. In zijn eentje, met een acoustische gitaar wist hij veel sympathie te kweken bij de bezoekers.

Later speelde hij nog mee in de band die Tom McRae begeleidde en bleek het bovendien een sympathieke vent. Zo had hij zich volledig verkeken op het aantal cd's wat hij mee moest nemen om te voldoen aan de vraag van de nieuwe 'fans'.
Hij beloofde niettemin weer eens terug te keren.
Tot op heden is het er niet van gekomen, al was het vorig jaar bijna zover. Zo zou hij in het voorprogramma van Michelle Shocked spelen in Ekko (Utrecht). Dit ging niet door, omdat - zover ik begrepen heb - er onenigheid ontstond tijdens hun tour in Engeland. Helaas, helaas, want dit was voor mij bijna een reden geweest om een kaartje voor dat optreden te kopen. Gelukkig maar dat ik dat niet gedaan had.

Nu ziet het er naar uit dat hij weer op tournee gaat: The Hotel Cafe UK Tour - samen met Tom McRae, Cary Brothers, Jim Bianco, Joe Purdy. Joe Purdy die we ook al kennen van een tournee samen met Tom McRae.

Ik heb stille hoop dat Steve en Tom weer naar Nederland zullen komen, al zal dat gezien het tourschema waarschijnlijk pas 2007 worden.

Als je naar Steve zoekt op www.allmusic.com valt op dat er bij genre Jazz wordt aangegeven. Pas als je verder klikt zie je waar hij werkelijk thuishoort.
De kwalificatie die allmusic geeft aan zijn album: is het genre folk. Dat is toch wel heel iets anders als jazz lijkt me zo.

Kwalificaties die ook gewoon hout snijden, dit in tegenstelling tot jazz.
