Zelf vind ik Automatic for the People een wereld plaat (is het ook ), en Green een goede tweede. Gek genoeg hebben de andere platen me niet weten te pakken (o.a. Out of Time, Document, Lifes Riches Pageant).

Btw, wanneer komt hun nieuwe album uit?

26 Years Hence: R.E.M. Plays the Feedback
1) Mitch Easter, Don Dixon, Joe Boyd, Don Gehman, Scott Litt, Pat McCarthy and Jackknife Lee will produce one song each on the next record. Included will be an all-star super song with all collaborating. The song will sound like a combination of Leave, Saturn Return and Kahoutek.

2) R.E.M. will be heavily featured in upcoming ads for Apples iPhone. The ads came as a result of Steve Jobs being enamored with MIchael's dancing style from the Around the Sun tour, and are a play on the iPod silhouette ads. They feature Michael bouncing randomly around the screen while singing songs about telephones (Blondie, etc).

3) R.E.M. will embark on a 1.5 year world tour, at the end of which they will play one show consisting entirely of End of the World, and promptly change formats to a 3 piece barber shop type band, with Peter on vocals.

4) R.E.M.'s fanclub will be moving online, merging with Murmurs.com and David will take over Ethan's role. Ethan will move to Athens for a quiet retirement, David to Burbank, CA to take over at WBR and Murmurs.

5) Michael Stipe will be directing a movie, starring Peter Buck and MIke Mills as an "odd couple" type duo, moving into a house in Los Angeles together to make the Greatest American Record. Bertis Downs also stars as the wacky neighbor. Bill Berry makes an appearance near the end, in a "twist ending," as the family secret, hiding in the basement.

6) R.E.M. will in addition to recording with Jacknife Lee, be recording a record with Rick Rubin that consists entirely of covers of the Monkeys covering Neil Diamond.

7) Reacting to Starbucks starting its own record label, R.E.M. will be financing Athens company Cookies and Company in starting their own major label. Their first signing will be R.E.M. art guru Chris Bilheimer's "Crush Girls"

8) Around the Sun, Up and Reveal will be released as a 3 CD digipack, all compiled from original tracklistings, but consist of live versions instead of studio. Special "rawk" treatment will be applied by Peter in post-production from his home studio, using Apple's Garageband.

9) R.E.M. has already finished the new record. Peter last seen smiling happily in Seattle while dancing a jig.

10) Bill Berry is coming back, and not only will he be back, but he'll be singing at least three songs. Not only that, but he will be re-recording Reveal and Around the Sun for release this year. By himself.
