Van Skysports.comquote:The FA and Premier League have confirmed they will launch an inquiry into the Panorama programme's allegations of illegal payments.
'Undercover: Football's Dirty Secrets' hit the headlines after its airing on Tuesday night and the English footballing authorities have now vowed to get to the bottom of the matter.
"The FA takes any allegations of corruption in the game extremely seriously and will actively investigate claims made by the programme," an FA statement read.
As well as jointly investigating the key figures under their jurisdiction, the FA are set to investigate those transfers that fall within the time-frame covered by the Lord Stevens inquiry into corruption.
FA chief executive Brian Barwick (pictured) has also moved to reassure the footballing world that no stone will go unturned.
"These are serious allegations which have been made and we are determined to investigate them fully," he stated.
"It is vital for the integrity of the game and for every football supporter that we do this.
"As with any investigation, we will ensure that our inquiries are exhaustive and thorough.
"If we find evidence of corruption we will act on it. We recognise our responsibility."

Die Allardyce moet zijn bek ook dicht houden. Hij kan niet ontkennen dat het toch heel erg fout is wat die man aan het doen is. Want alle 3 de agents die ze aansproken gaven Sam gelijk aan als iemand die geld aanneemt ( zou wel heel erg toevallig zijn ). Voor de rest vond ik het jammer dat ze niet met meer bewijs kwamen want het is nu wel duidelijk dat in alle sectors van voetbal erg veel corruptie voor komt. Vond het trouwens ook wel toepasselijk dat de manager van Luton gelijk die 2 gasten herkende die hem geld hadden aangeboden....

However, football agent Phil Smith believes any move to strip the FA of its powers to police transfers would be supported in the industry.
"The FA have never policed agents properly if at all, and they should be left to deal creatively with the game," said Smith of First Artist Corporation. Lord Stevens has already submitted the findings from his Quest team to the Premier League, whose board will decide whether any disciplinary proceedings need to be taken. Only then will the identities of those alleged to have breached transfer rules and any charges against clubs, managers or agents be made public.
The Stevens inquiry was set up by the Premier League after allegations of corruption were made earlier in 2006. Smith added: "These dodgy deals, if there are any, need to come out, they need to be dealt with then a line needs to be drawn under it and we need to move forward. What we want to come out of this is a joint initiative which leaves everybody under no illusions about what the set of criteria is.
"But the clubs must be as accountable as anybody else."
