Ergens in de late jaren '40 wordt het levenloze lichaam van Elizabeth Short gevonden, in een huis waar bewijs wordt gevonden dat ze enkele dagen gemarteld werd voor haar dood. Twee LAPD-agenten worden op de zaak gezet, en Bucky, één van hen, ontdekt al snel dat zijn eigen vriendin een connectie had met het slachtoffer. Al snel leidt het onderzoek bovendien naar corruptie in het politie-departement.

Het is een verfilming van een boek van James Ellroy. Dat is goed. De regie is in handen van Brian De Palma. Dat vind ik al minder goed, De Palma valt bij mij veel vaker tegen dan dat hij aangenaam verrast, maar je weet maar nooit, in The Untouchables deed hij 't wel goed en daar droegen ze ook deukhoeden.

Hoofdrollen zijn voor Hartnett en Eckhart. Die zijn geen Pearce of Crowe waard, maar het kon erger. Al heb ik toch wel problemen met een stoere, grimmige detective die er 14 uitziet. Johansson lijkt vooral setdecoratie te zijn, in die hoek zal het van Swank moeten komen. Mia Kirshner speelt het lijk. Qua cast zit het dus wel snor.

Hij zou op 15 september in de VS moeten gaan draaien en ergens begin november in Nederland, maar dat is allemaal onder voorbehoud.

Die heten The Black Dahlia Murder en die hebben hier al een topic, ergens in MUZ.

Ondertussen is hij in de States uitgekomen en zijn er ook een hoop reviews. Die zijn niet erg goed .
