"If you don’t do something different you never grow as a band. There are a few tracks on the new album that do sound more like our older stuff but there didn’t seem like a lot of point just doing what we’d done before again. We just felt like we wanted to show a different side of the band, prove there’s more to Muse than just being a rock band and prove that we can appeal to a wider audience and not just the few fans we've had from day one"
"... if you release something that’s familiar then people have a go at you for doing the same thing all over again; but then when you do release something different you get our so called fans saying things like, ‘It doesn’t sound like them. I don’t like it.’ It’s Catch 22. You can’t please everyone. So either enjoy it or just shut the fuck up".
