Cover of the single Boten AnnaBassHunter became a noted artist in Sweden, Denmark and Norway after the release of the single Boten Anna ("Anna, the bot") in 2006. The song topped hit charts and was on the 3rd of May 2006 named Norway's official Russ-song[2] It was also the most popular song at The Gathering (party) 2006.

The lyrics of Boten Anna is about an IRC user mistaken for an IRC bot by the vocalist who later finds out the truth, but states that she will always remain a bot in his eyes. Despite the esoteric subject of the lyrics, the song was well-received by mainstream media, albeit the word bot was frequently mistaken for boat, and the double meaning of channel (IRC channel mistaken for the water body with the same name - channel). The occurrence of Basshunter riding a boat in the music video may also be a source of confusion for many.

A bot named Anna currently resides in the #BassHunter.se channel on Quakenet, albeit due to the popularity of the song, the channel, as well as #Anna, have been filled up with bots.

Apart dat het over een bot/IRC user gaat, maar daar weet de meute dus (vrijwel) niks van en hoort boat. En het Zweeds heeft wel wat, dus kom maar door. 	Ohja, ik heb het in ieder geval weer snel gehad met dit soort dingen, vooral door Dragosta din Tei, wat ik toen juist supervet vond, maar na 3 maanden was het ook weer kut. Toen vonden de amerikanen het zo nodig om de trend op de pakken waardoor ik de rest van het jaar erna op die fora waar ik wel eens kwam met "Numa Numa" opgescheept zat Oh en Waterman van Olav Basoski is ook zoiets, net als Rubato, en die heb ik altijd okay gevonden Boten Anna is gewoon niet voor mijn oren bestemd
