ROSARIO, Argentina (AP) - Goals by Victor Aristizabal and Vladimir Marin gave Colombia's Atletico Nacional a 2-1 win over Rosario Central and the Copa Libertadores second round qualifiers from Groups 2 and 7 were decided Thursday.
Nacional ended the first round with 10 points atop Group 7, while Brazil's Palmeiras also qualified for the second round with nine points, despite losing 3-2 to Cerro Porteno of Paraguay later Thursday. Cerro ended the group round eight points and Argentina's Rosario had five.
In Group 2, Argentina's Estudiantes edged Bolivar of Bolivia 2-1 and Independiente Santa Fe of Colombia beat Peru's Sporting Cristal 2-1 to book their second round berths.
Aristizabal scored in the 31st minute and Marin doubled the lead for Nacional in the 44th.
Cristian Villagra drew a point back for Rosario in the 76th, just minutes before Aristizabal and Rosario defender Ronald Raldes were sent off for rough play.
At Sao Paulo, Brazil, Erwin Avalos scored a pair of goals and Domingo Salcedo added another to lead Cerro past Palmeiras.
After a scoreless first half, a melee broke out when the teams returned from the dressing rooms, and Bolivian referee Marcelo Ortube expelled defenders Douglas of Palmeiras and Carlos Baez of Cerro.
After 55 minutes, midfielder Salcedo found the net to make it 1-0 and Avalos headed home a Salcedo six minutes later for a 2-0 lead.
Palmeiras midfielder Marcinho narrowed the score in the 80th minute, but Avalos led Cerro back after 83 minutes.
Palmeiras responded with a Marcinho goal two minutes from fulltime.
Mariano Pavone scored twice at La Plata, Argentina to lead Estudiantes over Bolivia.
Miguel Cuellar put Bolivar ahead in the 25th minute.
Pavone scored the equalizer in the 78th and gave Estudiantes the victory in injury time of a match played under heavy rain.
At Bogota, Colombia, Jairo Suarez opened the scoring for Santa Fe in the 7th minute and Luis Yanez made it 2-1 with a header in the 40th.
Second half substitute Luis Alberto Bonett drew a goal back for Cristal in the final minute.
Santa Fe and Estudiantes ended the group round with 10 points each, while Bolivar and Cristal both had seven.
