Het bleek al snel een magisch jaar, want het bracht ons onder andere Seth Gaaikema.
Deze rasartiest werd geboren op 11 juli en vermaakt ons tot op de dag van vandaag met zijn kwinkslagen en woordspelingen.
Verder werden we dit jaar verblijd met Ria Bremer, Ruud Lubbers, Nico Haak, Wim de Bie en Hanneke Groenteman.
Op filmgebied moest 1939 het vooral hebben van de geboortes van Francis Ford Coppola, Liv Ullman, John Cleese, Wes Craven, Terence Stamp en Sal Mineo.
Helaas ontviel ons dit jaar Sigmund Freud.

Okay, hoe gaan we dat aanpakken?
Nou, dat zal ik eens even uitleggen. Alle films die volgens IMDB uit 1939 komen mogen meedoen. Alle films die door twee verschillende mensen genoemd worden, doen mee aan het daadwerkelijke tournament.
Daarna zullen deze films twee aan twee gekoppeld worden en kan er in elke ronde een keuze gemaakt worden voor een van de beide films. Voorwaarde hierbij is dat je allebei de films gezien moet hebben.
Lijkt me duidelijk, dus laten we starten met de nominaties. Ik begin wel.

Nou ja, morgen ondersteun ik dus Gunga Din. Verder heb ik ook niks te melden. Al dat Sherlockspul is een poos geleden ook op de BBC geweest, maar dat heb ik niet gekeken. Waarom heb je toen niet gemeld dat je daar een tournament mee ging houden? Hetzelfde geldt voor Drums along the Mohawk, die heb ik een keer opgenomen maar later ongekeken overgespoeld met een andere film.
