Wigan moet natuurlijk een keer een terugslag krijgen, dat gaat echt niet tot het eind van het seizoen zo door. Een paar blessures en ze zitten aardig in de problemen. Ik verwacht dat Arsenal wel wint, idd door de voorhoede. Anderzijds staat de verdediging behoorlijk goed bij Wigan. Wigan is echter thuis wel wat minder dan uit, scoren bijvoorbeeld heel erg weinig thuis

Arsene Wenger is believed to be shaping up a £20million bid for Athletico Madrid’s Fernando Torres.

Arsenal are to sign Guadalajara's teenage Mexican striker Carlos Vela for a fee of just over £2m, according to reports in his home country.
Under the terms of the deal Vela would play for Spanish side Valencia until he is 18, when he becomes eligible for a work permit in the United Kingdom.
The 17-year-old's father Enrique told the Mexican media: "These chances appear only once in somebody's life.
"Guadalajara wanted Carlos to stay, but we have reached an amicable agreement."
Vela scored five goals in six matches to help Mexico win the recent Under-17 World Championships in Peru.

Ik kan me niet voorstellen dat Arsenal iemand koopt, om er later achter te komen dat hij niet voor ze kan spelen (volgens mij waren er in het verleden al problemen met Edu, en dan zouden ze daar zeker van geleerd hebben)

Goal.com Espana has heard that Real Madrid and Arsenal are in talks about a possible swap deal that would see Julio Baptista move to Highbury in June with Ashley Cole heading to the Bernabeu.
Sensational? Certainly. Possible? Why not – it is a deal that would make a lot of sense all round. Remember, Arsene Wenger spent much of last summer pursuing ‘The Beast,’ whom he saw as a natural replacement for Patrick Vieira in the Arsenal midfield, with Baptista offering additional options in attack. The move foundered only on Brazilian Baptista’s desire to obtain Spanish citizenship and thus an EU passport.
But the nationality issue will be resolved by June, and The Beast will be able to move freely across the continent.
Meanwhile, England left-back Cole’s relationship with the Gunners – the club with whom he’s been involved since childhood, was soured by the Chelsea “tapping-up” affair. Cole held secret talks with Chelsea officials about a possible move across London while talks over a new improved Arsenal contract had stalled.
But the talks were exposed by a Sunday newspaper, and as Arsenal had not given their permission, both Chelsea and Cole were in breach of Premier League rules and were punished. Cole still nurses a burning indignation about the whole affair and although he subsequently signed a new contract extension ay Highbury and made the right noises about the past being the past, the feeling persists that his relationship with Arsenal may never again be quite what it was. Throw into the mix Real’s wish to secure long-term strength in depth on the left side of their defence, and you have the makings of a possible deal.
Nor has Baptista set the world alight since leaving Sevilla for Real. First-team starts have been more restricted for the big Brazilian than they would have been in London, and he has expressed a wish to play in the Premiership at some stage of his career.
As for Cole, he is currently recovering from a cracked bone in his foot. And as for a possible swap deal, watch this space…

With Hoyte on loan, other options appear to be moving central defenders Pascal Cygan or Kolo Toure over to left-back or asking Emmanuel Eboue, who is predominantly a right-sided player, to shift flanks.
Arsenal have previously suffered costly injury blows to Sol Campbell, Thierry Henry and Alexander Hleb while they were away on international duty so far this season.
Now Clichy's possible absence could hinder their chances of recovery in the title race, with league games against Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton, Newcastle and Chelsea scheduled in the next month.

Alexander Hleb is nearing a return from injury.
The midfielder’s last game for Arsenal came against Birmingham on October 2. He injured his knee on international duty with Belarus a week later and has been sidelined ever since.
However speaking to Arsenal TV Online on Thursday afternoon, manager Arsène Wenger predicted that the summer signing from Stuttgart would return against Ajax next Wednesday and, at a push, could play at Bolton on Saturday.
“He is not completely available but he is back training with the squad,” said the Frenchman in an exclusive video interview. “I think he will play against Ajax. If we were in a real crisis he could travel with us to Bolton.”
Otherwise, Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy are both absent with the same injury — a fracture to the foot. Alex Song hurt his knee at Thun but, like Hleb, could be fit for the next Champions League tie.
“Alex Song is getting better,” said Wenger. “He has a good chance of being available for Ajax but I don’t think I will take a chance with him on Saturday at Bolton.”
