PALLAS is, after MARILLION, and along with IQ and PENDRAGON, one of the most important acts of the Eighties Progressive rebirth. This is an energetic and magnificent neo progressive band in the style of IQ/MARILLION but with more edge. Their music is centered on melodic hooks, loud sound and great voice. "The Sentinel" brings a tint of pop in a still elaborate progressive spectrum.
Scottish prog band PALLAS definitely have one of the longest gaps between albums on record. They released their first album, "The Sentinel" in 1984 and followed it up with "The Wedge" two years later. Their next album, "Beat the Drum" (72 minutes of music with epic accents, rock rhythms and style, and ballads full of feeling), did not show up for 13 years. It will be followed by the wonderful “The Cross And The Crucible” in 2001. Highly recommended to fans of neo Progressive style.

Pallas began life in Scotland during the seventies and, like many other
bands from the Neo Progressive movement of the early eighties, saw interest
soar during the years 1981-1983. During this time the band released their
debut independently financed album Arrive Alive that eventually made it to a
third pressing and ultimately appeared on compact disc. The big news of 1983
however was the securing of a major record label deal. In the case of Pallas
this deal was with EMIs' progressive label Harvest. Another interesting
point that gave the bands' credentials a huge boost was that the debut album
for Harvest was to be produced by Eddie Offord who more famously had
engineered albums for Emerson Lake And Palmer and co-produced albums for
Progressive giants Yes. In 1985 the band accepted an offer to tour with
Uriah Heep and the tour took place in May of 1985. During the tour the band
played a concert at the Camden Palace where this DVD was filmed. At this
point the band were still promoting the Knightmoves EP but also included
material from The Sentinel and Arrive Alive. This DVD captures the band
during the height of the then Neo Progressive Rock Boom and as such is an
incredible archive release.
