En een bod op Aruna Dindane (RSC Anderlecht) is niet geaccepteerd:quote:Spurs try again for Forest winger Reid
tribalfootball.com - August 26, 2004
Nottingham Forest winger Andy Reid is again being linked with Tottenham.
The Daily Mail says Spurs are trying again to land the Republic of Ireland international, who has seen at least three offers from the London club turned down by Forest officials.
Reid was left out of the Carling Cup game against Scunthorpe this week, fueling speculation that he was in talks with Spurs ahead of completing a move.

Tottenham have had a bid for Anderlecht striker Aruna Dindane turned down.
The Daily Mail says Spurs failed in a £6 million bid Dindane, who was watched by sporting director Frank Arnesen on Tuesday against Benfica.
Dindane's goals helped the Belgian champs qualify for the Champions League group phase.

Tottenham are preparing a £6 million bid for Argentine sensation Carlos Tevez.
Spurs technical chief Frank Arnesen had scouts watch the Boca Juniors ace tear Italy apart in this week's Olympic Games semifinal.
But Boca are likely to demand around £10m for the player - who has certainly lived up to his billing in the Olympic soccer tournament.
He has banged in seven goals in five games and his Argentina side are in Saturday's final, where they will meet Paraguay.

By Ian Ferris - August 27, 2004
Tottenham boss Jacques Santini has declared himself satisfied with his side's solid start to the season following a draw at newly promoted West Brom.
"I am happy with the three results we have gained from three good games," Santini said after the match at the Hawthorns.
"I accept this result tonight because West Brom played a good game and, after they scored so early, it made it difficult for us to equalise.
"We have also had a lot of changes at the start of this season, with players coming and going, so our preparation has not been good.
"We have also had no time for good training sessions because last week there were international matches, this week we are playing three games, and then next week the players are away on international duty again.
"I think for our team we have done well so far."

Nottingham Forest boss Joe Kinnear expects to hear from Spurs in the next 48 hours whether his bid to bring Johnnie Jackson to the City Ground has been successful.
The Forest chief has made an enquiry about the midfielder with a view to completing a loan or permanent deal for the 22-year-old.
He said: "I spoke to Chris Hughton for ages yesterday. Jackson is not in their side and I enquired about taking him but it's still in the early stages.
"They've bought (Michael) Carrick and a lot of midfield players and they are thinking about it."

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international joined up with the Robins squad for training on Thursday.

by Peter ORourke - Last Updated 27 Aug 2004
Tottenham boss Jacques Santini is set to give Jermain Defoe a rest for this weekend's clash with Birmingham.
Santini is looking to guard his young striker from burnout after a busy start to the new season.
Despite scoring two goals in three games Santini may leave him out for the home clash with Birmingham.
"I hope it is only exhaustion with Defoe because he has played a lot of matches. It is possible Jermain will not play on Saturday," said Santini.
"With 55 games in all competitions, it is not possible for each player to play them all.
"Defoe's played three games for us and came on for England last week. It's natural for him to be tired.
"We spent three hours on the coach coming back from West Brom, so everyone is fatigued."

Tottenham's Paul Robinson has declared that he wants to become England's first choice goalkeeper and that he has David James' position in his sights.
The Leeds born shot-stopper completed a move from his home-town club to North London in the summer and has excelled in his form thus far.
With England's World Cup qualifying campaign to get underway next week Robinson concedes that he will not be Sven Goran Eriksson's choice, but it is a situation he is keen to rectify.
''I want to be England's No.1 goalkeeper at the World Cup in two years' time,'' Robinson told the Daily Star.
''Of course I do, and that is my target. There is no personal rivalry between David James and me but we both know the score.
''David is the first choice and I can't expect to play in championship matches yet.
''I want to be England's goalkeeper and will do all I can to prove it.''

Tottenham have launched a £2.5 million bid for Coventry City defender Calum Davenport.
The Mirror says Spurs director of football Frank Arsenen, who has already lured rising English stars Michael Carrick, Sean Davis and Jermain Defoe to White Hart Lane, is determined to add Davenport and City would get much less than his current asking price if they allow him to run down his contract.

Tottenham star Ledley King has insisted he is staying at White Hart Lane.
The England defender has emerged over recent seasons as one of the most consistent defenders in The Premiership, and a very good display at Euro 2004 only added to his reputation.
Newcastle were linked with a potential move after Jonathan Woodgate exit, but a move seems unlikely.
King himself admits he might consider a move abroad further down the line, but he is happy in London with his new born son.
"Maybe a few years down the line it is something I would think about," said King.
"But I am very happy where I am at the moment with Coby doing well after being born premature."

by Nadia Carminati - Last Updated 30 Aug 2004
Czech star Marek Jankulovski has confirmed that he almost joined Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
Spurs were linked with the left sided midfielder throughout the summer and now he has confirmed they did make an offer.
However, his current club Udinese rejected Spurs' offer and they moved for Timothee Atouba and Erik Edman instead.
"Tottenham wanted me," said Jankulovski.
"I'd have willingly accepted, because The Premiership fascinates me a lot, but I think Udinese considered their offer not to be adequate."
Internazionale and Juventus are now fighting it out for the versatile Jankulosvki, who starred at Euro 2004.
However, the player is happy to continue at Udinese if a move is not forthcoming.
"Undoubtedly I see an Italian future," admitted Jankulosvki.
"Juve or Inter, there isn't much difference. But if I stay at Udinese, I'll continue as I would in any other side."

Monaco want Tottenham Hotspur striker Fredi Kanoute but their move for the Mali international is likely to end in failure.
The French side are anxious to bring in a new striker before the close of the transfer window and have been linked with a string of hit-men.
The club have been unable to reach an agreement with Manchester City for Nicolas Anelka and Didier Deschamps has now requested information about Kanoute.
The angular forward has started all three matches for Spurs since Jacques Santini was appointed manager but that has not prevented rumours of an August exit.
Southampton were linked with the 26-year-old earlier this month but Kanoute insisted he is happy at White Hart Lane.
Reports in the Principality now suggest that Kanoute is a target for Monaco and Deschamps wants the former West Ham ace on loan.
But it seems their bid for Kanoute is unlikely to be realised as the player is eager to remain in The Premiership.
Monaco could now decide to rival Italian giants Roma in the hunt for Ajax marksman Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Roma have submitted an offer for the Sweden international while it is reported Monaco have already a bid rejected.
Ibrahimovic's preference appears to be for a switch to Serie A, leaving Monaco running out of time to sign a new striker as they also attempt to finalise a deal for Barcelona's Javier Saviola.

tribalfootball.com - August 31, 2004
Tottenham have completed the signing of Coventry City defender Calum Davenport.
Spurs will pay £1.1m up front for the 21-year-old, rising to £3 million based on success and appearances.
Davenport has become the 11th summer signing by Tottenham's sporting director Frank Arnesen.
"He's a great talent with special qualities, a promising central defender who possesses a good mentality," Arnesen told Spurs' official website.
Coventry boss Peter Reid tipped Davenport to make an impact in the Premiership.
"I'm obviously very disappointed to let Calum go but I don't think it is right to deny him this opportunity to play in the Premiership," he told Coventry's official website.
"Calum is an immensely talented defender who has all the attributes to go as far as he wants in the game."
Coventry chairman Mike McGinnity confirmed that the money for Davenport would be used to help Reid bring players to Highfield Road.
"Calum is out of contract at the end of this season and having turned down a new deal, we could not run the risk of losing him for nominal compensation," he added.

Coventry City defender Calum Davenport played in yesterday's victory over West Ham - despite a deal having been struck with Tottenham over his transfer.
"I don't think it was a gamble to play Calum because we had agreed the transfer - he is a footballer and that's what he gets paid to do," Coventry boss Peter Reid said.
"I don't think his agent wanted him to play, I can understand that but I don't think we would have got the three points without him.
"I think the deal we have got is a good one for the club because he is out of contract at the end of the season and I don't trust tribunals.
"We are light on numbers and this money means I can dip into the transfer market - but it's been so long since I spent any money I've forgotten what to do."

Spur sign Davenport from Sky Blues
Tottenham have confirmed the signing of Coventry's highly-rated young defender Calum Davenport for £1.1million. The fee for the central defender may rise to £3 million depending on appearances.
The England Under-21 international, the 11th signing since David Pleat's departure at the end of last season, had been linked with a move to White Hart Lane for some time and completes the move just over 24 hours before the transfer deadline.
Spurs sporting director Frank Arnesen told the club's website: 'He's a great talent with special qualities, a very promising central defender who possesses a good mentality and who will further enhance our growing squad.
'He illustrates our current attitude at Tottenham, seeking our players for now and players for the future.'
Coventry manager Peter Reid expressed his sadness at youngster Davenport's transfer to Tottenham but admitted he did not want to block the defender's dream move.
'I'm obviously very disappointed to let Calum go but I don't think it is right to deny him this opportunity to play in the Premiership,' he told the club's website.
'Calum is an immensely talented defender who has all the attributes to go as far as he wants in the game and everyone here wishes him the very best of luck for the future.
Sky Blues chairman Mike McGinnity added: 'Calum has been a tremendous servant during his time with Coventry City and I have no doubt he will go to be very successful in the game.
'However, although we did not want to let Calum go, the fee we will be receiving for him will allow Peter to bring in a number of players to strengthen the squad.
'Unfortunately, Calum is out of contract at the end of this season and having turned down a new deal, we could not run the risk of losing him for nominal compensation.'

Coventry City defender Calum Davenport will ink a deal with Premiership side Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday after sealing a £3 million move.
The 21-year-old has been a key member of The Sky Blues after coming through the ranks with the West Midlands club.
The England Under-21 international has attracted the interest of other clubs, with Newcastle United and Reading having shown their keenness to sign him.
However, it is Jacques Santini's Spurs who have stolen ahead of their rivals to land the tall centre back before the transfer window closes on Tuesday evening.
Davenport joins fellow new signings Noe Pamarot and Nourredine Naybet in a new-look backline with the North London outfit.
Davenport was given the captain's armband for Monday's match against The Hammers, as it appears the contest will be the defender's last with Peter Reid's side.
The Sky Blues will receive an initial £1.1 million - which will rise £3 million - according to appearances.
Coventry boss Peter Reid wished the talented defender well in his move to the North London giants.
''I'm obviously disappointed to let Calum go but I don't think it is right to deny him this opportunity to play in The Premiership,'' Reid told the club's official website.
''Calum is an immensely talented defender, who has all the attributes to go as far as he wants.''
