Het Zionisme is destijds ook al eens samen met Zuid-Afrikaanse regime veroordeeld als een racistische ideologie die uitgaat van eigen etnische superioriteit. Zuid-Afrika is aangepakt maar Israel mag het langzaam in praktijk brengen.

Ze hebben zelfs een wet aangenomen waardoor getrouwde Israeli's en Palestijnen apart moeten gaan leven. De ene in Israel en de andere buiten de muur. Ook al woonden ze al jaren in Israel en hebben ze samen kinderen.

Ghetto's, martelingen, executies en liquidaties, razzia's, muren en prikkeldraad, geen gemengde huwelijken enz. Nu alleen nog wachten totdat ze de palestijnen verplichten een maan op hun kleding te gaan dragen.

NICOSIA [MENL] -- Iran and South Africa have agreed to increase defense cooperation in a process that could result in the transfer of Israeli-origin technology to the Islamic republic.

Iran and South Africa have signed a memorandum of understanding meant to pave the way for cooperation in defense and other fields. The MoU was signed on Aug. 17 during a visit by South African Defense Minister Mosiuoa Lekota to Teheran.

The visit was the first by a South African defense minister to Iran since 1979. Iranian officials said the two countries discussed a range of proposed projects, including training, exercises and joint development.

"The event can be considered as a turning point in expansion of defense cooperation between the two sides," Shamkhani said.

Mahatma Gandhi's grandson has urged Palestinians to resist Israeli occupation peacefully to assure their freedom.


Arun Gandhi, descendant of the man who loosened Britain's grip on the Indian subcontinent, said on Thursday that non-violence would speed the growth of international pressure on Israel and sympathy for the Palestinian cause.

"I know your day of freedom is very near," he told a crowd of thousands of flag-waving Palestinians in the West Bank city of Ram Allah after meeting President Yasir Arafat.

"Insist on your rights and demand your freedom peacefully ... Let the voice of reason and compassion stand up again," said Gandhi, president and founder of the US-based MK Gandhi Institute for Non-Violence.

In an interview with Aljazeera on Thursday night, Gandhi said the conditions of the Palestinian prisoners currently on hunger strike in Israeli jails was deplorable.

"I think it is very sad and discouraging ... this inhumane treatment," he said of Israel's rejection of the prisoners' demands for better jail conditions.


"There should be international pressure for Israel to alleviate the plight of the Palestinians," he told Aljazeera.


Suggestions

Condemning the separation barrier Israel is building in the West Bank as an "evil thing", Gandhi gave some suggestions for a new non-violent movement in the West Bank and Gaza - territories captured by Israel in 1967.

rally with photos of jailed relatives

"Imagine yourselves marching by the thousands behind your leaders to the checkpoints and the roadblocks demanding your free passage and the right to be treated as human beings," he said.

"Sit at the roadblocks and sing your songs. March to the wall and dance your dances," he added, referring to the wall that is being built on confiscated Palestinian land.

Reaction split

But Palestinians at the rally were split on the idea of non-violence, with teenagers apparently unimpressed. A 15-year-old, Mahmud Sulaiman, said he doubted non-violence could win Palestinians a state, even though he welcomed Gandhi.

"It won't work. There must be both armed and peaceful resistance, and armed resistance is more important."

But older members of the audience, such as 25-year-old Muhammad Sabir, were more impressed.

"The peaceful resistance he talks about is better than what we have here. We should be a symbol of peace to the world. In the end we are with Gandhi. We need to be better than them."

Salima Ayat, holding a framed picture of her jailed son, said: "We want peace. We want to live as they live. Isn't this our right? We want peace by any means."

De spion zou zijn gegevens aan Israël
hebben doorgespeeld via de AIPAC,een

At least 12 people were killed and 86 others were wounded Tuesday afternoon in near-simultaneous suicide attacks on two buses in the southern city of Be'er Sheva.

Hamas claimed the attacks, the first suicide bombings inside Israel in five months.

The militant group distributed a leaflet in the West Bank city of Hebron saying the attacks were revenge for Israel's assassinations last spring of its spiritual leader, Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, and his successor Abdel Aziz Rantisi.

Seven of the wounded were in serious condition, 23 sustained moderate wounds and 56 had light injuries. All of the wounded were taken to the nearby Soroka Medical Center.

The initial investigation showed that both buses departed from the central bus station in the city, and two suicide bombers - one on each bus - blew themselves up at 2:50 P.M. as one bus was on Rager Boulevard, near Soroka Medical Center, and the other was on a street close to the municipal building.

"I heard a blast and I started to run to the site. Within seconds there was another explosion," said Gil Yehezekel, the owner of a business close to the location of the attack.

"When I got there, there were people on the floor, wounded people, limbs torn off," he said. "The police and ambulances arrived in seconds."

Prime Minister Ariel Sharon vowed in the wake of the attacks that, "the fight against terror will continue with full strength."

Sharon will continue with the plan to withdraw from the Gaza Strip and four northern West Bank settlements by next year, his aides said.

Following the blasts, the police bolstered the number of officers across the country. There had apparently been no advance warning of an attack.

Palestinian Minister Saeb Erekat said, "the Palestinian Authority condemns any attacks that target civilians, whether Israelis or Palestinian."

Palestinian militants haven't carried out a suicide bombing inside Israel since March 14, when 11 people were killed in the port city of Ashdod.

Earlier Tuesday, Israel Defense Forces soldiers caught a Palestinian man carrying an explosives belt as he tried to cross into Israel from the Gaza Strip. Be'er Sheba is 25 miles west of Gaza City.
