quote:I've seen this movie twice and I think that it's amazing. First in Paris, then recently with a bunch of friends at the Toronto film festival. Word must be out because the screening was sold out -- the line was down the street and around the block. The plot is totally original -- it's a sci-fi thriller -- with complicated twists and turns, amplified byvibrant direction.
is amazing. He's like the Hitchcock everyman, he does it in a deadpan American accent, and he's in
every scene. The key to the movie is that everything seems really ordinary but in fact he has no control over his actions and ultimately starts to lose his mind -- yeah there's the thriller element (it's a tightly wound plot) but there's a
psychological element as well that anyone working a 9-6 BS job understands. I thoughtmight get a nomination out of this movie. He's that good.
performance is the right tone. She's the requisite femme fatale, but she's got a pivotal role. The visuals are stunning. I would highly recommend this movie. Hope you get a chance to see it!

De box is inderdaad erg groovy, en past perfect bij de film.quote:Much like this directors previous effort,
is a stylishly filmed, one concept movie.
I thought it was rather protracted plot wise, and the dialogue was pretty stunted, and not particularly realistic. However it was shot with an extremely moody atmosphere with really nice sets and costumes, there is very little action and minimal special effects, which makes a nice change, since most directors now seem to think that wire stunts and time lapse effects are a pre-requisite for a Sci-Fi movie, and like,
succeeds on a purely aesthetic level.
I watched it because as a matter of course I watch every sci-fi movie that gets made, and it didn't leave me totally flat, but it seems to me thatusually gets a better performance out of his cinematographer than he does out of his cast. And he ignores gaping holes in the plot, and patchy writing in favour of very effective atmospherics and sleek futuristic eye candy sets.
Its a reasonable piece of escapism, and in England comes in a really groovy box which has multiple 3D reflections of yourself when you look at it, which is worth it alone.
