de muziek (weliswaar in ringtuneversie, ik vond voorlopig niets beter )quote:As we initially reported in the February issue of Chart Magazine, Furtado, whose parents are from Portugal's Azores Islands, has penned the official song of the 2004 European soccer championship, which will take place in Portugal this summer. The song is entitled "Forca," meaning "strength" or "let's do it" (or, in Furtado’s own, less censored words, "kick ass") in Portuguese.
de zangeres in een niet zo neutrale klederdrachtquote:Nelly Furtado - Força
It is the passion flowing right on through your veins
And it's the feeling that you're oh so glad you came
It is the moment you remember you're alive
It is the air you breathe, the element, the fire
It is that flower that you took the time to smell
It is the power that you know you got as well
It is the fear inside that you can overcome
This is the orchestra, the rhythm and the drum
Com uma forca, com uma forca
Com uma forca que ninguem pode parar
Com uma forca, com uma forca
Com uma fome que ninguem pode matar
It is the soundtrack of your ever-flowing life
It is the wind beneath your feet that makes you fly
It is the beautiful game that you choose to play
When you step out into the world to start your day
You show your face and take it in and scream and pray
You're gonna win it for yourself and us today
It is the gold, the green, the yellow and the grey
The red and sweat and tears, the love you go. Hey!
Com uma forca, com uma forca
Com uma forca que ninguem pode parar
Com uma forca, com uma forca
Com uma fome que ninguem pode matar
forca, forca, forca, forca, forca
Closer to the sky, closer, way up high, mais perto do ceu, mais perto do ceu
Com uma forca, com uma forca
Com uma forca que ninguem pode parar
Com uma forca, com uma forca
Com uma fome que ninguem pode matar
forca (oh), forca (oh), forca, forca, forca

Het wordt een dikke zomerhit.quote:Força' by Nelly Furtado has been confirmed as the official song of UEFA EURO 2004™. The song will be used extensively in the promotion of the finals and Furtado perform it live before the final at Lisbon's Estádio da Luz on 4 July.
One million sales
'Força', written and performed by Furtado, is taken from her album 'Folklore', which was released in November 2003 and has sold more than one million copies. It will be the third single from the album and will be released in June.
'Portuguese feel'
The announcement was made during the fortnightly Euro 2004 S.A. press conference. Gilberto Madaíl, chairman of the Euro 2004 S.A. board, said: "I am delighted that the song 'Força' will be the official song of the event and in particular that Nelly Furtado is the singer, as it is important that the song has a strong Portuguese feel and she understands the passion for football and how important it is to people here in Portugal."
'Delighted and thrilled'
Furtado was not present at the conference but in a video presentation said: "I am delighted and thrilled that 'Força' has been chosen as the official song of EURO 2004™, as I am really looking forward to coming back to Portugal to perform it. I wrote it with the passion the Portuguese people have for football in mind and I hope this comes through in the music and lyrics."
Portuguese version
Furtado was born in Victoria, Canada to Portuguese parents. In addition to the original English version of the song, she will produce a Portuguese version.
