The Boredoms is een groep Japanners die samen een boel herrie maken onder het kopje noise.

Ik heb zelf alleen nog maar de cd Super Roots uit 1994, maar wil er zeker nog meer van gaan zoeken, want het is echt heel leuk. Helaas zijn de cd's nogal duur en wanneer je 20 euro moet betalen voor een cd van The Boredoms, voel je je flink genaaid en is het ineens een stuk minder leuke muziek.
Het is echt geweldig dat er zoiets kan bestaan en dat ze nog enorm veel platen hebben gemaakt ook. Volgens allmusic heeft dat deels te maken met de adoratie van Sonic Youth en Nirvana voor The Boredoms, maar het zal wel weer een samenloop van omstandigheden zijn geweest.
Ze bestaan nog steeds, want Vork zei net dat ze op het All Tomorrow's Parties festival staan dit jaar. Het moet echt geweldig zijn om dat te kunnen aanschouwen.

That leaves the rest of the release to "4," a fun oddity that runs for nearly 15 minutes. Kicking off with a '60s-garage, hipshake groove transmogrified into Boredomusik, the song merrily weaves its sudden jump-cut way among electric guitar twang, Amon Düül-ish clatter-chant folk, rumbling stomp rock, and the sorts of rude noises and peculiar sounds which pretty much define the Boredoms' raison d'etre.

Ontopic: Heb al jaren "Pop Tatari" in de kast staan, toendertijd aangeschaft samen met het fantastische "Let's Knife" van het eveneens Japanse Shonen Knife!!
Zal eens kijken of er wat te vinden is van die andere Japanse groep waar je het over hebt.
De cd's van OOIOO en de release van Yoshimi & Yuka op Ipecac zijn ook aanraders wanneer je een beetje van de Boredoms houdt. Ze liggen in het verlengede van hun ontwikkeling.

Yamatsuka werkt met iedereen samen, dat is niet te volgen en veel ervan is onbetaalbaar en dat stinkt.
Gitarist Yamamamoto Seiichi heeft nog een leuke ambient/d&b-achtige cd gemaakt onder het kopje ROVO. Erg goed.
Heb nu bijna alle reguliere Boredoms albums. De andere dingen zijn allemaal redelijk duur, of moeilijk aan te komen.
Vooral die Super Roots-serie.

It appears that, after an extended five-year hiatus, Japanese mega power maxi super-rock mayhem pioneers Boredoms will return this fall with their first album since 1999's glorious psychedelic excursion Vision Creation Newsun. Titled Seadrum/House of Sun, the record is presently slated for a September 23rd release via Warner Music Japan! Unfortunately, this is all that is known! Fortunately, the speculative details are legion! And we can now offer to you the fruits of our hours upon hours research! Let's go!
In recent years, the elusive Boredoms had been thought to have disbanded, leaving frontman Yamatsuka Eye to record under the name Vooredoms, with the assistance of three drummers. However, no proper Vooredoms LP has ever materialized, despite the band's countless live performances over the past couple of years. Now something real weird has happened: A new disc, Seadrum/House of Sun, has been popping up on the websites of Japaese online CD vendors, credited not to Vooredoms, but indeed, to Boredoms, which suggests that it may, in fact, feature contributions from thought-to-be-departed guitarist Seiichi Yamamoto and bassist Hira.
Furthermore, the title of the album hints at something reported by a 2002 Wire article-- material laid to tape on a beach, with drums recorded underwater. A post on Yahoo!'s Boredoms group may shed more light on the subject, quoting Eye as saying that the band had recorded an album in 2001, but were having trouble getting Warner Japan to release it. Perhaps this is that record. Perhaps not.
One very curious detail about Seadrum/House of Sun is that the album bears the same catalog number as 2001's Rebore Vol. 3, raising doubts as to whether this is even a new Boredoms release at all. However, the Pitchfork interns* have been hard at work translating the Japanese text that accompanies the album at these CD vendors, and it definitely points toward a new studio Boredoms release. The translated text reads:
"Shaking! Amazement! A Thundering Blast of Fresh Air! Tears of Gratitude! Astounding! It's been a long time since their last release back in 1998, but a new work under the name Boredoms has been completed! The members have individually been playing in innumerable other bands over an incredible range, but finally the real thing starts! With the Boredoms' following of hardcore fans not only in Japan but overseas as well, what type of album is coming? This is an album to look out for!"
Seadrum/House of Sun's September 23rd release, unfortunately, does not extend to Europe or North America. As with all previous Boredoms records, it will be issued first in Japan only, meaning that, for the time being, fans will be made to pay outrageous import prices of around $35, including shipping.
Though the album title suggests the distinct possibility of a double album, every CD vendor listing the record at present shows only one disc, with only one track, of which the title is unknown (another parallel with the Rebore 1-3 discs). As every Vooredoms live show we've heard (ranging from 2002-2004) has featured one long, jammy track, ranging from just under 35 minutes to over an hour, that may indicate the direction of this new album-- or it may be a complete coincidence. In any case, we'll keep you up-to-date any new developments in the Boredoms' never-boring story, so stay tuned for more details.
* Ok, it was actually translated by a guy on the Boredoms list. Our Japanese intern is on vacation.

Vision Creation was wel een heel toffe plaat. Helaas mis ik de Rebore albums nog steeds, maar die zijn ook tweedehands aan de zeer prijzige kant. Heb ze al voor rond de 60 dollar verkocht zien worden.

Boredoms Release 6-CD Box Set, Voordoms Tour as Boredoms; Closet Bania Fans?
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it tough to uncover news about the Boredoms? With such a dedicated fanbase, you'd think fans of the Boredoms would have some sort of streamlined networkin' going on. Like: HOLY SHIT!! They just confirmed a full-length U.S. tour!! With such a dedicated fanbase, I think I will make use of our streamlined network and announce it on our mailing list!!! Not so. Unfortunately, Boredoms news is like resource assistance for rural environments or a ronne Antarctic research expedition or a retinoic acid response element or réseaux associés pour la recherche Européenne or THAT BLEEDING PIECE OF MEAT ON MY DAD'S PLATE.
Speaking of album releases, Vice recently told TMT that The Boredoms are set to release a 6-CD box set. No street date has been set, and there really isn't information beyond what I've already said ("The Boredoms are set to release a 6-CD box set"), but it's exciting nonetheless! What is yet to be uncovered, though, is even a general description of the box set. Since, technically, the Boredoms are now named the Voordoms (fun fact: the "V" in Voordoms represents a turntable stylus, the infinity symbol that's supposed to be there represents two records, and the band is the motor), questions remain: will the box feature old demos, jams, and maybe live material from the Boredoms era? Or will this actually be six discs of NEW material??
