Volgens allmusic.com is dit een genre dat bestaat. Ja, ik ken het ook niet. Het blijkt een soort combinatie te zijn tussen deephouse en minimal techno. Ik ben wel een fan van Herbert, Daniel Bell en Recloose en dat hoort er blijkbaar ook een beetje onder.
Is er iemand die beter bekend is met dit genre? Ik zie wel namen als Richard Villalobos en Thomas Brinkmann maar dat is m.i. toch meer minimale techno.

Coined in a 2001 article in The Wire by writer and DJ Philip Sherburne, microhouse was a term used to categorize dozens of largely German producers whose approach to house music emphasized subtleties and space as much as deep house producers relied on anthemic hooks and emphatic vocals. Even so, microhouse productions found a meeting point between deep house and minimal techno. The stern rigidities of the latter were forsaken while the sensual and boisterous capabilities of the former were embraced; to flip the scenario, microhouse took a cue from minimal technos less is more doctrine, regularly abandoning deep houses excessive ornamentation. Emphasis tended to fall on cushiony kick-drum thumps and the accompanying hi-hats, with faint textures provided by synthetic strings and dreamy keyboard tones. Throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, several small labels thriving on this approach cropped up. A fair percentage of the output from already-established labels like Playhouse (Isolée, Losoul), Kompakt (Sascha Funke, M. Mayer) and Klang Elektronik (Farben) made for some of microhouses most thrilling moments. Other labels such as Force Tracks (Luomo, MRI), Perlon (Ricardo Villalobos, Pantytec) and Trapez (Akufen, M.I.A.) - were virtually all-microhouse in scope.

Ik heb er ook wel van gehoord. Vooral in 2002 was het een kleine Hype. Muziek die uit talloze kleine sapmles bestaat. Herbert is volgens mij wel de bekendste. Verder heb je Akufen en sommige tracks van Luke Vibert.

hmmm... kende t niet. nou heeft allmusic wel meer van dit soort microgenresenres

Ik ben wel bekend met het toch wel redelijk grote label Kompakt van Michael Mayer, dat o.a. muziek heeft uitgebracht van T. Raumschmiere, maar om dat nou 'microhouse' te noemen (wat een lelijke term trouwens).
Thomas Brinkmann zijn sound vind ik te abstract, minimaal en zeker te uniek om hem in een 'microhouse' hokje te stoppen.
Verder is de term volgens mij een wisse dood gestorven aangezien we er nu niks meer van horen

Dit is meer richting 8-bit computermuziek - niet echt wat ik bedoelde in mijn OP maar toch wel erg cool
